New York-Presbyterian Colombia Hospital

U.S.A. New York

Does anyone have any information on New York-Presbyterian Colombia Hospital? I'd like to work at a good heart hospital and they are near the top of my list.

In particular I wanted to know more about the working conditions, salary, etc.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My dad works at NY Presbyterian-Columbia, has for 14 years. He's not a nurse so I don't know much about them but the salary for nurses is around 73-74K a year and they are apart of a union. There are a lot of high profile and celebs that go there for treatment. It is the best heart hospital in the city though, Former Pres. Clinton had his bypass done there.

Overall my dad does like the hospital though, they have all state of the art stuff. Connected to the Columbia division there is Morgan Stanley's Children Hospital and there are two other divisions. Weil Cornell on 68th and Allen Pavllion in the 200's.

Specializes in Neonatal ICU (Cardiothoracic).

It depends on where you want to work. I work in the Children's Hospital, which is pretty much its own island. I have no idea what goes on across the street in the adult building.

Salary is the highest in the city, all your benefits come out of your dues, no cost Rxs, $10 copay for everything else...pretty solvent company to work for in this economy.

Be warned that thanks to St Vincent's, there are lots of experienced nurses looking for jobs....

thanks for the input! I actually meant to ask about the NYP Cornell Hospital :D I keep getting the two mixed up.

Dear SuperNurse .....

After reading your blog it seem as though you work at Cornell. I would there as well and I am a new graduate nurse looking to transition to an RN roll. I was a Student nurse extern on the pediatrics units and women and children's is my dream job area to work in. For some reason HR is giving me a hard time and I'm an employee there. At this point i will take a med-surg job. I keep calling and calling. I had 2 interview and was declined due to the fact they prefered nurses with expereince. I have worked at 3 different hospitals and have all pediatric and maternity expereince. At this point I just want to talk onto a floor and hand my resume to the PCD's. Any advice. Its crazy, all I want is a position advanement and I have a BSNinformation.gif add.png search.gif

Dear NurseNat~NYC,

I see you were a Nurse Extern for NYP. What year did you do your externship? I was a Nurse Extern also and still im finding it difficult to find a job. So you're an employee there?

Specializes in General ICU.

Did anybody apply to the New York Presbyterian Hospital Nurse Residency program for this year? And if so, when did you apply and have you heard back from them yet? Thanks in advance.
