Looking for a job in Buffalo, NY

U.S.A. New York

Hello, I am a new nurse and I am looking for a job in Buffalo, NY. Currently I am employed at a Nursing home in Buffalo and I really don't care for it. I don't feel like I am learning anything and there aren't a lot of strong nurses for me to learn from. I feel like I am a disadvantage. The job refuses to train me for a supervisor position although they allow LPN's to supervise. It wouldn't be a problem if they would allow me the same opportunity. I just want to learn. I have been applying to EVERY HOSPITAL in WNY as well as Niagara Falls and I haven't had any luck. Any advice anyone can give me?

How long have you worked as an RN at the nursing home? If a year or more, you are have a greater advantage to the new grads. I work at ECMC, and they have been hiring a lot of psych nurses since they are expanding. Almost half of the nurses who work on my medsurg/tele got a job on the floor because they came from psych. Most often ppl go to psych for a year to get their foot in the door and then apply to medsurg. Look online, there maybe medsurg floors open. Don't forget to keep on applying to Catholic, Kalieda, Roswell.. the key is to keep applying and never give up! And see what you can do to improve your resume/cover letter.

I graduated in May. I took my boards in August and then began working at a Nursing home. I had an interview at ECMC for a Psych position prior to taking my boards. I even took the medication test and passed. I was told by the lady who interviewed me they were looking to hire me in September or October. Unfortunately that never happened. I even got in contact with her and left a message and she never returned my call so I left it alone. I have been applying every where though. I am afriad that when I finally do get into the hospital I wont know anything. I feel like I am not learning anything where I am.

Olean general hospital. Is hiring. I had an interview there yesterday. Check it out.

Thats soo odd! But my best advice to reapply! And keep reapplying :)
