  1. Where's that? How far is that from Buffalo, NY?
  2. I think you will get back in if not you have other options. I feel like eventually you will need a BSN anyways because when I tell you it's very hard to obtain a job it is exactly that. I was working at a nursing home (that I hated) and was recently laid off. The whole 6months I was there I was looking for a job. I had interviews(several) and got no job. I've applied to hospitals and have been told by HR they are taking preference for RN's with their BSN. Even then so they want experience too. So if I were you I would cross off a 4 year college based on cost alone.
  3. I know for a fact you can get into NCCC and D'Youville lol! I know someone who was in nursing with me and she failed out of Trocaire's program. I don't know what exactly she had to do but I know she got in. As for D'Youville a good friend of mines failed level 2 when we were in nursing together and she got accepted to D'Youville. She had to get a letter from the head of our nursing program saying she could be readmitted or something like that. She's at D'youville now and she graduates pretty soon. UB on the other hand they may not be so forgiving because they are a very competitive school. What I can tell you is this DONT GIVE UP! If I would have gave up I would not be a Registered Nurse today. Just because you hear a no, don't stop. Another option to could be to just finish at Trocaire... You have a lot of options. If I were you I would get in contact with people in the nursing department and see what your options are.
  4. When I was at Trocaire I wasn't in the nursing. I believe they didn't accept those credits because in level 4 we take a class that's required for the course that's just like Ethics in healthcare and the philosophy was just unnecessary for the program. As far as the Nursing program it's self it is very very tough! I think all nursing programs in general are tough but I was told by many of my clinical instructors that NCCC gave their students a lot of paper work for clinical. Trocaire to me felt like more of a rip off I had a 3.0 and still didn't get into the RN program there. I was told by Dr. Fanutti that I would be better off pursuing my LPN. That is why I left there and I got right into NCCC nursing program. My advice to you would be to not limit yourself and apply to every school with the program of choice you are seeking.
  5. I actually graduated from NCCC 5/13 and I transferred from Trocaire to there. NCCC took all my credits accept my Ethics in Healthcare and Philosophy. Although I wasnt in the program you are speaking of. I was in Nursing. The good thing is now I am in Daemen for my BSN and they actually took those two classes. What I would suggest you do is talk to an advisor at the school for the program you are interested in and bring an unofficial transcript so they may look it over with you and better guide you.

  7. I graduated in May. I took my boards in August and then began working at a Nursing home. I had an interview at ECMC for a Psych position prior to taking my boards. I even took the medication test and passed. I was told by the lady who interviewed me they were looking to hire me in September or October. Unfortunately that never happened. I even got in contact with her and left a message and she never returned my call so I left it alone. I have been applying every where though. I am afriad that when I finally do get into the hospital I wont know anything. I feel like I am not learning anything where I am.
  8. Hello, I am a new nurse and I am looking for a job in Buffalo, NY. Currently I am employed at a Nursing home in Buffalo and I really don't care for it. I don't feel like I am learning anything and there aren't a lot of strong nurses for me to learn from. I feel like I am a disadvantage. The job refuses to train me for a supervisor position although they allow LPN's to supervise. It wouldn't be a problem if they would allow me the same opportunity. I just want to learn. I have been applying to EVERY HOSPITAL in WNY as well as Niagara Falls and I haven't had any luck. Any advice anyone can give me?
