Sorry to bother you all.

I am an international nurse trained by a two year associate degree school in another state. I have some questions for you guys:

1. Should I take the NCLEX test in New York directly or take it in where I study first for endoresment?

2. What kind of hospitals are interested in intertional nurses ?

3. What is the base pay here ?

Thank you for any comments.

Specializes in Nephro, ICU, LTC and counting.

hi,

i am an international nurse too but trained outside the us. if you were trained in the usa but not in ny state and are interested to work in ny, you don't have to be licensed in the state of your nursing education. you can directly apply to nybon for the initial licensure by examination.(send the form 1). request your school of nursing to fill and send (form 2) and your academic transcript directly to ny state education department. if you are not a citizen or a permanent resident you have to apply for the visa screen certifiacte(www.cgfns.org).

i am not sure but i guess, your student advisor will give you information about how to apply to the hospitals after graduating. they will give you a temporary work permit i believe. please refer to the international nursing forum in this website. there is a thread for international nursing students in the usa.

there are some hospitals in nyc which sponsor for foreign nurses. salary depends on facility, location, shift and years of experience.
