Has Anyone Heard From Brockport Nursing?

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything from College @ Brockport Nursing for Fall 2011??

I thought we were supposed to start hearing back sometimes in March. I'm getting nervous

I just saw your other thread... bummer :crying2: Sorry to hear about your issues with Brockport. I have heard that they have a limited number of spots for transfer students and they must have had a ton of applicants this year.

Have you looked at some of the other private schools in the area besides U of R? I looked in to St. John Fisher and it looks pretty straightforward to apply if you have a bachelor's degree already. I believe I have heard that they have a session that starts in the Winter too (not sure about how true that is.) Nazareth has a good program too, but I think they are more strict about transfers. I didn't look into Naz too much. Yes, these schools are more expensive than Brockport, but since they are private schools they probably have good scholarships/financial aid, and with your credentials I imagine you would qualify for some money. There's also Roberts Wesleyan, but I don't know a whole lot about their program.

The UR program is awesome but yes it is super expensive. The positive side is that you finish in a year and you basically have your ticket written to work wherever you want in Rochester when you are done. UB also has an accelerated program which is a fraction of the cost. It just might be worth a commute to Buffalo. I believe they have a winter starting session as well. There are some other private schools in Buffalo with Nursing programs, but I don't really have any info on those.

3.6, but I was not applying as a direct transfer as I am already a nursing-intent student at Brockport. My pre-req GPA was higher but I don't know it offhand since I took them at a variety of schools (including Brockport)...

SyberianPuppy, We went to the same undergrad. It is a very tough, very competitive, very critical school. With no grade inflation to speak of here, your 3.6 here is SPECTACULAR, and something I know you earned through blood, sweat, tears, and brains....

Brockport was silly to not consider you further. This is not to say that an Ivy Education guarantees us spots over others - no way - Cornell shouldn't be a free ticket to anywhere. BUT, it's not like you got a 2.5 here, you did fantastic probably got mostly As and A-'s ....and...your GPA is on par with my classmates who went to medical school. Good ones. Like NYU.....

I know you must be upset but chin up and figure out plan B. SUNY Binghamton has a 1 year May-May program. U of Rochester like others suggested looked like a great program, though pricey. Not sure what your geographical limitations are but there are schools that will appreciate the torture you've been through, and the success you achieved, at CU :)

Thank you for the support and words of encouragement. I'm currently trying to figure out a plan B, but I am a little limited in that I live (and will continue to live) in Geneva, NY. I can commute up to an hour - but Binghamton is two hours away. :crying2:

I was admitted too! I just discovered this site. I'm now deciding between brookport, university of rochester, ucla, and johns hopkins.

Did you get in to the UR accelerated program, or the traditional nursing program? Also, did you get in for this spring?

Nice! I was curious because I got in there too, along with the accelerated program at UB. Ultimately I chose Brockport because of the cost, and also because I live with my boyfriend which would be cheaper than moving to Buffalo. After the winter we have had, there's no way I could consider commuting an hour for a program that will be almost every day! I also just really like Brockport... I took a bunch of pre-reqs there and the administrative offices are super nice and helpful. I have also heard so many great things about the program from graduates.
