Graduate Nurses at New York Presbyterian

U.S.A. New York

Specializes in Surgical ICU.

Hi everyone. For those of you that applied to New York Presbyterian as a graduate nurse,.. did you just ignore the (at least one year acute care experience) clause on the job description. Because I am trying to apply there and even their staff nurse positions which are suppose to be entry level nursing all require at least one years experience. Should I just apply anyway?

Specializes in Public Health.

Apply anyway, and often. From what I've heard, persistence seems to pay off.

Specializes in MICU, Intermediate Care Unit.

I hope you have a BSN because I applied there with 17 months MICU experience, got an interview and was told, as the HR rep was walking down the hall to her office, that "oops. I misread your resume. I thought you already had your BSN." And that was the end of the interview!

OMG,.. that is so rude. She should of went on with the interview and not said that out loud. I do have my BSN, but it didn't help as I'm a new graduate and I got an email from them saying that they'll just keep my resume on file. Maybe I will apply again.

I agree it was rude...but the right thing to do would be (1) state in the job posting on your website that BSN is required...not preferred and (2) read a resume properly!

You may want to try the NSLIJ health system...they seem more willing to hire new grads than other hospitals.

i'm a new grad too and I do apply to the "at least 1 yr exp" postings. It wouldnt hurt to try. As for Northshore LIJ, it seems really hard to get into b/c I dont see any postings for new grads AND they were the only hospital at job fair that didnt want to collect resumes. =T

btw, what kind of questions does nyph ask on interviews?
