Especially if it's free. How often does it offer the class?

Everywhere in NYC they offer free hha training. Just search on google for homecare agencies in your area and call them to ask when the next classes will be held. Some agencies require you to work for them for a priod of time until they give you your certificate, others like Utopia homecare give it to you on the spot after successful completion of the curse.

Does the training include real hands-on practice?

Is it hard to get admitted to the free training? Or is there always a slot?

Is it hard to get admitted to the free training program if you are a college graduate (overqualified?)

Specializes in MedSurg, PACU, Maternal/Child Health.

Some programs require you to have HS or GED for HHA. You may be overqualified with a Bachelor's and have to pay tuition. Unless you sign with an agency and you have contract to work for them for X number of years to pay off your training.
