i dont know much about obtaining certifications and receiving a pay differential. ive heard about a certified oncology nurse or certified peds nurse....anyone have info any other certifications and their criteria??thanks :)

You can go to the individual nurse specialty organization's website and probably get information regarding the requirements needed for board certification. It usually is a test that must be taken; but, the prerequisites are different. For instance, being board certified in Emergency Nursing (CEN) requires a test, but does not have a requirement of having a certain number of hours worked in that specialty, as does the CCRN (board certification for Critical care Nursing). Most CCRN/RNC certifications require between 1-2 years of full-time experience before applying to take the exam...
