I just got a call from them for an interview this Monday and I am so nervous. I was wondering if anyone had any helpful advice or experience with this school. Thanks! :nuke:

Bayley you will do fine. I remember you from the other threads, youre a smart girl. I believe you already got in, good luck! I think if you were to compare PBISON to LICHSON-- PBISON is mucccch better. Use LICHSON's interview as practice. :icon_hug:

Bayley , can you share, please, your experience about interview at LCHSON? Did only one person questioned you or more? What they were interested in? What questions stand out? I applied to LICHSON too this year. I'm waiting for the NLN results. I think I did ok, but I cannot be really sure till I see results. I applied for evenning program. I would really appreciate if you would give me some advice about interview. Thanks. The reason I applied for evening program is that nursing program by itself is tough, so I thought that more time would be only beneficial for me.

The interview was pretty relaxed. I was interviewed by one of the professors and it was just one-on-one. The main questions that I can remember are 1) strengths and weaknesses, 2) what you think the role of a nurse is, 3) if you've had any previous exeprience in healthcare and if so, what was it, 4) why you want to be a nurse, 5) why you were interested in their school. Those were the main ones. Asides from that we talked about their curriculum, any general ed. classes previously taken that would transfer, etc. Also, they ask people to write a short paragraph about why they would be a good candidate for the school. It's mainly just to make sure people can write and spell well enough though. Overall, I think the interview took about 30 minutes. When I had my interview there, they said they were just now starting the whole interview process so I'm sure you'll hear from them soon. Good luck!

thanks Bayley for that quick response.

Hey Emille! i was wondering when did you take the nln??? cause i took it on the 18th of April but nothing from them as yet..sadly..im still waiting though.

Congrats on ur interview. those who are called in to the interview have alreaady been accepted. I am a current student at LICHSON and just to give you a heads up, the school is NOT a good nursing school. To just give u an overview of how the school and faculty operates. Everything is a complete chaos. The slides for the lecture are emailed to the students same day of class. Many times the slides that are sent to us does not correspond to the actual lecture. Some of the professors cant answer questions that students ask. There respons eis "Well i think ...... but don't quote me on it". Some of the professors (with the exception of the pharmacolgy teacher who is beyond excellent) reads directly off the slides word from word.

2. Alot of exam questions are contradicting. When a question is presented and they list the anwers, there is usually 2 right answers. Their lecture notes states one thing and the textbook says another. which means they end up double keying alot of questions. And there are times when ther eis no right answer and the professor wait last minute to tell the students, oh select any answer for question 12 casue there is no right answer there. For the first semester, we used to get a sheet that shows up the answers that that we selected for the exam. in the second semester they no longer give us those sheets. Sometimes they review the test, but it does not help much if the student does not know what questions u have wrong.

when its time to be reimbursed money from overpayment of tuition or scholarships that was rewarded to you. It takes approximatly 5 - 6 months for you to get ur money back. You have to keep asking them over and over for you money and they always say 2 weeks and nothing.

When there is a certain document or paperwork that needs to be turned in at a certain time, the student is notified the day of the deadline.

The projector breaks down 85% of the time, so that leaves the student with no type of presentations to look at.

Then there is more than one professor teaching a particular subject, which makes it very difficult to learn. Casue they all cant teach and they all have some sort of bizarre teaching styles.

This school is a teach yourself school. You have to buy additional supplements to better graps the information thats presented to you. The teachers are of no help and there the school does not offer tutoring. They attempted to hire a tutor who ended up being a no show. the professors always request that you email them if u want to setup an appt to meet with them. They dont asnwer your email till towards the end of the semester. The attitude here is pass your class and run as far away from this school as possible.

Are you going to transfer to another school?

Youre not the first person to speak up about LICHSON, so far I have yet to hear what a wonderful school it is. With the exception of one person. Hopefully LICHSON will wake up one day before they shut it down. A lot of people also coincide with what you said in regards to teaching yourself.

Good luck to you ! And Thanks!

No im not going to transfer for only one reason. My nursing classes will not be accepted elsewhere. It will be a total waste of money and time to leave now. I have done 2 semesters and have another 2 to go. I have no choice but to stick it out. Thankfully i have good study habits. I use alot of other resources to learn the material. But currently there are alot of students who are not doing so well. the day class started off with 112 students and they are down too 80+ if not less.

There are alot of nurses who works at LICH hospital and the only advice they gave me was just pass. You will learn what you have to learn during orientation at what ever hospital that hires you. And in my opinion, thats bad!

We can go back and forth all day, I feel like im hijacking the thread though. Sorry to OP

Do they have a syllabus so you can get an idea of what to expect as far as the reading material goes?

Well I was browing the NCLEX part of the forum and they have good tips from what I see there. I think you will be fine, thanks for the heads up though. Yeah I heard Externships will build your confidence up like nobody's business.

Do they have a syllabus so you can get an idea of what to expect as far as the reading material goes?

They do provide you will a syllabus at the beginning of the semester. wht is taught in class usually does not reflect on the readings. When it comes to exams -- The exams are sometimes based off the slides that they give us and or what is spoken in class and sometimes the textbook. but again they are ALOT of contradiction btwn the book, their slides and the what is stated in class.

Ex: In class the professor indicated that when there a pt has an obstruction in the eye. Do not touch it!... Cover it up and take them to the Dr.

We had an exam question stating a pt had a pencil stuck in the eye, as a nurse what do we do?

A. Do not take out the pencil, take the pt to the Dr

B. some off the wall answer

C Cover the eye using aseptic technique

D. some off the wall answer

Everyone chose A

Guess what -- we all got it wrong she said the answer was c. Its what the book said. So we are argues the answer and played back the recording where she specifically said dont touch the object that is lodged into someone eye.

this is what we have to go thru evrytime we take an exam or in class quiz.
