waiting list for Trinitas Hospital School of Nursing / Newark area nursing schools?

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hi, everyone:

I live in Newark, currently I am studying for a professiona license required by the job. I will be done in the Summer, I wish to go into nursing program in September. But I heard there is naturally average 2 -year waiting list for nursing programs? I am really worried.

I have a BA in other field already. I am thinking going to a community college ASD. Those acceralted programs requires full-time, and is not possible for me. Tuition is also a big issue, I cannot afford to go to private schools like Seton Hall, Bloomfiled, nor public schools like Rutger. Also I worked during the day, so I cannot go to Essex County College either, they only have day program.

My question is: I mostly interested in Trinitas Hospital school of nursing. Anybody know any waiting list there at Union County College?

BTW, I need to take almost all the pre-rquisite courses, so if there is a waiting list, can I take these pre-requisites during waiting time? or do I have to wait to take these courses too?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

hi! just wondering did u have trouble registering for Nur130 and 131 at trinitas?? do ppl really have to camp out the night before just to get in??

no, that doesnt happen anymore because they send out invitations for people to register so there is certain numer of people asked to register, and to register for 131 you have to pass 130 :)

Hello,

I'm going to register for NUrE 132 soon and they didn't require any new blood titers for me since I've submitted all the requirements before I registered before in 131. Just a question for those in 231 or 232, are we going to be required to have blood titers every year?

No, blood titers are only required once unless you are shown to be susceptible to infection. In that case, you must get the immunization and then repeat your blood work again to show immunity. (This is not required if you had to be re-immunized for varicella, a.k.a. chicken pox).

Good luck!

Actually, people do still get there really early for registration for 131 if they are trying to get a weekend clinical slot. I had to be there at 5:00am to get mine... After 131 though, you are guaranteed a slot for whichever division you started in. You don't have a choice at that point. Whatever you start with is what you are stuck with for the whole 2 year program. In other words, you cannot switch from weekends to days to nights, etc... Once a day student, always a day student and so forth. No exceptions unless they offer a new section for which they are trying to fill, otherwise you are SOL if your schedule changes.

UPDATE!!!!!

Been studying hard passing my classes

I am startin 132 in sept 2009 will check back in soon

Just disregard the previous message.. I was just testing it out LOL.. Anyway, I was in the Bloomfield nursing program but unfortunately, it didn't work out. SO, I applied for the Trinitas nursing program for the fall 2009, and spoke with the advisor during the spring. She said that in order for me to begin in the fall, I needed UCC credits considering that I am a transfer student. I just finished an art class for Summer I, with a 4.0 gpa. I called UCC-Elizabeth, and asked them since now I have credits with UCC, what I should do from there. She stated that now I have to wait for a letter. But during the time I spoke with the advisor during registration, I basically got ALL pre-req's done and the other courses done...All I have left are literally the Nursing courses.. that's all!! With where I'm at right now, what are my chances of getting in for the fall semester 09 for Nur130?? Is there a long waiting list? Do you think I'll have a chance to start in the fall since I only took one course to earn credits for UCC.... I just want to hear from other people who are in the same position or have been through the same situation as I am in now. Please help!

I was invited into nure 130 my first semester at Trinitas as a transfer student. I was a non nursing major when i transfered in last spring 08. i think i got my letter so soon because I was registered fot the required pre reqs for 130 ap1 and chem 105 . You already have those pre reqs so I am not sure what your wait time will be. From what I have seen there really is no long waiting period. There were quite a few of us that had recvd the letters quicly. I defered until fall of 08 that is when i started 130.

All i can say for the trinitas studnts is good luck

No you don't need luck to pass nursing school YOU NEED TO STUDY HARD. So to the TRINITAS NURSING STUDENT I SAY STUDY HARD and DON'T listen to other people WITH NEGATIVE COMMENTS, just focus on your studies. EVERY NURSING SCHOOL IS HARD. PEOPLE DO GRADUATE FROM TRINITAS AND YOU COULD BE ONE OF THE GRADUATES STAY FOCUSED

I TOTALLY agree with you!! The majority of the ppl that talk about Trinitas here are always negative, but in reality lots of my friends who are in other nursing schools say they struggle too in their program. I was in the Bloomfield program and I've seen students literally cry when they got their exam grades. I think what it is is that the exams that students are given in nursing schools are NCLEX style questions. The thing is the professors don't even tell their students how to prepare for it. If you think about it, they want to make sure students are prepared not only to graduate, but to pass NCLEX after graduation so the school's NCLEX passing rate for the program will be higher. That's why they start weeding out the ones who they think are not ready in the program, and those are probably the ones that don't do good on the exams, which are exactly like NCLEX style quest. (also clinicals). Personally, that's what I think why ALL nursing programs are hard and why I also agree that ppl should really focus hard on the program and study study study!!! :)

Btw, I'm in UCC this fall and I recently got a letter from Trinitas being "considered" to register for NURE 130 for the Spring semester of 2010. The letter had the times being offered for the Spring semester and to e-mail them the desired times u want. And it also has the website to determine if you are officially invited. For anyone who is in the same position as me applying for the Spring semester at Trinitas, did you also get a "considered" letter from them. I e-mailed them right away for the spring schedule, but I don't want to get my hopes up. I should find out this Friday if I get in. (i'll keep my fingers crossed :)

been there and done that with Trinitas.. thanks God im no longer there but as time go on you will soon see (semester get muchhhhh harder).. i agree all nursing schools are challenging, however, Trinitas grading system isnt fair, they dont care about the students at all and some of there instructors feel as though the exams arent fair.. i made it all the way through without a repeat but i can still say that i wouldnt encourage anyone to go there.
