Does New Jersey have temporary permits for new grads so they can work while waiting to take boards?

New Jersey does not issue temporary permits for new graduate practical (LPN) or professional (RN) nurses. Only a few facilities will hire "GN" s (graduate nurses) or GPN's (Graduate practical nurses) and permit them to complete orientation and precepted skills in NJ while waiting to sit for the NCLEX-PN/NCLEX-RN. New graduate APN/nurse practitioner candidates can apply to the BoN for a work permit letter to begin practice while waiting for certification.

If you are not far from NY they still offer temporary working permits there.

Hi there...I know you said this a while ago but can you confirm that NJ does a temp permit for APN's because I found this nowhere on the website and I would LOVE to be able to get a temp permit while I wait for the actual license.

    Thanks!

APNs pending taking the national certification exam may be eligible for a temp permit if presently a licensed RN in NJ. Details in the section described above

It looks like no temp permit for RN, LPN, or endorsing APN
