License by Endorsement- Got my license in 4 weeks

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading a lot of threads about people's experiences with the NJ BON and how crazy long it takes to get a license in NJ, so I thought i'd share my success story of getting my license by endorsement in just under 4 weeks. What I learned through the whole process is that you really need to stay on top of it- Yes, if you don't call the person in charge of your application and stay on top of them they probably have a million ppl to look at. So see if you can contact one of the below ppl (pls check the NJ BON website to make sure these ppl's names are still correct) and ask them about the status of your license they are very helpful.

Licensure by Endorsement

Leslie Burgos (A-F)

Elizabeth Velez-Carter (G-N)

Ada Alejandro (O-Z)

As for the background check part- this is really out of the hands of the licensure by endorsement ppl so pls be nice to them if this takes a while. But basically what I learned happens is that if you get your finger prints done outside of NJ, the BON will send your fingerprints down to trenton to the individual who will send them to morphotrak. Once morphotrak gets them they will scan them and send them to the NJ State Police who will run a background check on you. You can check on the status of your fingerprints w. morphotrak by calling them, as well as where they are w. the NJ State Police if you call the state headquarters and go to the criminal convictions dept. Once the NJ State Police complete their scan (which they said can take 5-10 days, but mine took 2) they will send them back electronically consumer affairs in Trenton. They will then send them electronically to the NJ BON in Newark. So again, if you know that the NJ State Police has completed your background check but its not checked off for you, you can call the BON and say you know they have them.

Finally, for me everything was checked off except the part about Board/Committee approval which sat untouched for about 2 weeks. So when I finally felt like I had given them enough time to review all of my stuff (2 weeks) I just drove up to Newark. I let them know that I was there to check on my license b/c it has said board/committee approval for about 2 weeks and I just wanted to see if they still needed anything from me. The lady at the front desk pulled up my profile and w.in 10 minutes I walked out of there with my license.

Hope this is helpful and good luck to everyone!

Hello nurses just wanted to share my eperience with njbon.I currently work in VA but im a MD rn. So I sent my application online ($200) and paid for nursys verification ($30) on may 21. Mailed supporting documents (receipt, birth certificate, passport photo) on may 23. On june 4th i received my fingerprint cards ( not even two weeks!!!!!) to either go to nj and do them at morphotrust or here in va at my local police dept. i did my fingerprints in va on the 5th and mailed them next day air with my money order of ($63.19) to morphotrust. And thats basically where im at with the process.

My package gottheir friday and now i just play the waiting game. The fingerprint process im sure is whats going to take the longest since i did the cards but my adcive is to check your online checklist, call njbon and follow up with your paperwork, when you start this process try to send things all at once, and whenever you receive correspondence from them requesting something from you respond/send it pronto. I hope this helps someone, i love this forum btw lol its definitely come in handy!
