I am wondering if an RN needs to be IV certified in NJ in order to be able to insert an IV catheter or she/he can just put IVs without a certification?
What if one is IV certified in another state?

I learned in nursing school - and practiced in clinical. ER and GI lab are great places to learn. My first stick was on an 18 year old girl - got in on the first try.
After I started working, I had to do 10 sticks with a mentor and then I was on my own. No real certification or anything - just orientation.
Part of being an RN is IV insertion so I don't think any special "licence" is needed.
CNA's can take a class though? Can they practice?
