Bergen CC Fall 2013 Program

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hey guys,

I saw that there was no post for our group so I decided to create on. How is everyone doing with their Hesi? Also, is someone who is accepted into their program declines admission, do they open up a spot for someone else?

How was everyone's July 4th? I'm just being a night owl since I'm still excited by the fire works at Leonia, I guess my inner child and teenager showed up at same time.

I'm in section 003 and bit concern about whether I can manage myself balancing my job and the school. I did finish most of the pre-requisite courses and I hope this will give me some sort of the break.

BTW, this is the video I always watch when I need to fill up my bring it on attitude.

Thank you all so much for the information! I was home with my family watching the fireworks on TV on the 4th. I'm also a male nursing student and will be working throughout the semester. I'm training for CNA certification at BCC/hackensack to get another part time job during the semester. Super excited like all of you out there!

For the health clearance, if I'm transferring from another university and am already cleared for most if not all the shots, all i would need is to have that paperwork sent to bergen and a current physical correct? Stressing:(

I was in your position I had medical clearance from another university however bergen did require me to redo my mantuex ppd test in the middle of the semester over spring break because I had it done in Sept 2012 and was accepted into the spring evening spring 2013 program I fell into the within 6 months of acceptance to the Bergen program but it "expired" and a new one was required in March. Check out the Bergen community college health forms located online if you search the bcc website for health services you may be able to call your previous institution and have them fax Bergen (with your written consent) all your health documents. I can say health services at Bergen is extremely helpful they can answer your questions right over the phone (they do answer) I had to call my prior university have them fax me a consent to release documents to Bergen and my previous university faxed it right over to Bergen.

It is something we are going to all get use to I guess the obsessiveness with health and immunizations clearance, renewing our malpractice (exp every year) and CPR certifications (every 2yrs)

I will admit I personally call health services and say I am a entering level 2 student I just would like to check my clearance every week until classes begin.

Not advised but the professors in level one will receive a list of students whom are "non compliant" with health clearance in the beginning of the semester and again before you enter clinical off site. That is why I say carry copies with you everywhere because when our

Professor said oh your missing a hep round many students were able to say oh I have a copy

Of my immunizations right here and hand it right into the professor. The professors do understand that the hep vaccines are spaced so they will alert you of your missing hep round and you can just say yes I'm scheduled to have it on... Whenever. I am telling you make 10 copies of everything and keep them on file at home, hand one into health services (yes the health forms go to HS-100) CPR and malpractice go to B-302 nursing department copies will be your savior!

Also you would need to not only have the health forms faxed over you need a photocopy of your health insurance card and I believe you may need to sign declination of flu shot (unless you choose to get it; than proof of flu shot; date)

Oh wow, thank you so much kaitlyne!!!:)

Hi guys,

Ive been looking for an inexpensive health insurance (cheaper is better!!), but it seems like most of the insurances that I found so far are actually way more expensive than i thought.

Does anybody know any health insurance with annual premium less than $600-700??

Insurance was out of my tuition budget when i applied for the program but at the orientation i was told that it is MANDATORY :-(

so.....Help me !!!!

See if you can get some health insurance via the school- or if any health insurances will give you a student nurse or student rate.

Is health insurance really mandatory? I know that is mandatory. I thought health insurance was optional?

Health insurance is mandatory for full time college students as per NJ statute. Schools are supposed to offer minimum coverage options for uninsured students at a "reasonable" cost.

If you join the NSNA/NJSNA (national student nurse association/NJ ) there is a discounted insurance option for students taking at least 6 credits that is not too bad in cost.

Can anyone provide the a direct link to the right we're supposed to get? I remember getting it when I was in the Surgical Tech program and I thought I paid like $50-$100 back then? Now NSO link is telling me it would come to about $23, which would be great if true, but I don't want to get the wrong thing...

NSO is about $30 for a nursing student. You can check their quote online. When I was in school we needed a $1M/$6M coverage so it was $32. CNAs paid about the same.

Some schools require NSO while others will accept NSO or ProLiability/Marsh. Costs were similar.
