The Nevada forum seems to be heavily represented by Vegas... How many Northern Nevadans are out there?

Just curious :)

I'm in Northern NV :)

I agree that there sure doesn't seem to be many of us!

Weird, because I know there are tons of nurses in these parts! :p

Tons that just aren't as cool as us I guess. :D

LOL Apparently!

So do you work at the big R too? Maybe I've picked up pts from you to take them to the ICU...

Specializes in ED.

Oh yeah, I work at the wonderful world of Renown. ;) Which ICU are you in?

Roseview night shift - love it!

I'm nights too, so I'm sure I've sent you patients at some point. Though, I tend to send more to the trauma ICU.

I've been tempted to try ICU for awhile, but I love the ED too much. The chaos is fun...most of the time :p

Ya, I've been to a trauma blue once and it was exciting chaos, for sure. I've always thought about going to the ED someday in the future. Sometimes the ICU can be a very sad place.

How are we staffed down there? How many pts do you have at a time?

Staffing has been tight down there recently. They fired the travelers a few months back, and then we've lost a bunch of nurses to other shifts or the VA. But instead of giving us more patients, they just shut down areas of the ER. We have anywhere from 3-10 patients. The 10 patients come on the fast track side...I'm not sure how it works, I'm never over there. The most common is 3-4 (occasionally 5). It's usually not bad unless you have an ICU patient or 2 when you're on Green side so you still have 2-3 other patients to care for. The toe pains just don't seem to understand that the critical patients take precedence.

Wow, we wouldn't function if we got rid of all our travelers.... Many of them are repeat visitors though who are loved by staff.

Do different types of patients get filtered into the blue, red, green rooms? I seem to pick up pts from red mostly...but you kinda made it sound like green gets a lot of sick ones.
