Life as an RN in NV

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hello everyone!

Im taking nclex-rn in a few months. I applied for licensure in NY but we will be moving to nevada soon. I have some questions though,

1. Will i have a hard time with the reciprocity of my license from ny to nevada?

2. What is the kind of life in nevada? Cost of living, housing, transpo etc

And lastly,

3. How is the job market and how much does an RN usually make?

Your inputs are highly appreciated!

Thank you and God bless to everyone :)

I think the job market would mostly depend on the area of NV you are moving to...I know there is a much better chance of getting a job as a new grad in the rural areas of NV as opposed to Vegas.

You're definitely going to want a car for transportation here. There is a bus system, but it'll be super insane hot during the summer waiting outside. Besides that, the bus routes can be take an hour to go the same distance it would take 10 minutes in a car.

Reciprocity should be fine as long as you are coming from an accredited school. New grads can start from $25-30 per hour.

As a native I can tell you that it's hot as the devils crack here. A car is a must. But cost of living is low.
