I was considering paying the 43,000 to get into Apollo College. I heard thru some of my friends that it is almost impossible to get in. Is that true. Would you pay 43,000 to get into Apollo.

i just graduated from csn when it was ccsn.. i had no trouble getting accepted i took the LPN to RN bridge . just passed boards w/ my RN .now i know they have many applicants that apply for each semester and they don't have a waiting list. i know when i was in the program 400 applied and 96 got in. it's a very good program and they are tried and true for boards.. i passed first try w/ 75 questions. i am not sure about apollo but i have heard good things about their program. i suggest you look into that. there are a few other programs here in vegas to check on. good luck

I think if you don't have all of the classes that give you points and a good GPA you might have trouble getting in. Although I could have applied for Fall 07, I didn't waste my time because I didn't have Bio 224 or 251 and without those points I definitely wouldn't have got in. I now have them both and am feeling good about getting in on my first try in the Spring. I will keep you posted though.

I read your question the other day and after sitting and thinking about my own personal situation, I thought I'd respond.

I just recently got accepted to CSN for Fall semester and I honestly don't know how I got here so fast. Seemed like everything was taking forever and then all of a sudden I am here starting actual Nursing School. I can't say I'm brilliant, highly intelligent or anything like that. All I can say is I worked my butt off. I didn't get straight A's or have a 4.0 GPA, but somehow, my efforts (and believe me I put in a lot) paid off. I went to school full time for 4 semesters, including a CNA course (for the added points). I finished all the pre-reqs and co-req's during those 4 semesters and I applied last spring for the first time and was accepted for the following semester.

So to answer your question, No it's not "really that hard" to get into CSN, if you want it badly enough and work for it, nothing worth anything in life comes free right?

Good luck and I wish you the best in your decisions to pursue your degree!

depends on your grades in your prereq, and your luck!!

I work with a gal with good grades, prereq all done, and she has been passed over 3 times for slots in the program!

Was told there were 12 "approved" applicants and only 6 slots left, so names were drawn at random... No interviews, No letters of recomendations allowed!

See that what scares me. Work hard for 1.5 years on the prereqs to keep a high gpa and then nothing. Get pass and pass over a number of times because the college feel that someone is more qualified.

If you bust your but for 1.5 years and maintain a high GPA--you will get in....(depending on what your definition of busting your butt and high GPA is)

You can and will get in if you that's what you plan to do.

Good luck.

I can assure you that the school does have a computerized lottery program that is used for situations where there aren't enough spots and they have to select only a few. They don't pull names out of a hat or anything. :behindpc:

Yes, and if you go in with a photo ID to prove that you are indeed an applicant, they will actually show you the computerized lottery system and how it works to assure you that it's not bias in any format.

My friend and I both got in on the lottery for this Fall. She got in the full time program and I got in the part time. After we got rejection letters we were thrilled to be chosen from a lottery. Both of us finished all our pre-reqs with a good GPA and it was our first try. So I think it isn't that difficult if you really put in a lot of effort.

Congrats Tinkyboo! How excited are you to start? I got in by a hairline too with the 20 points but I don't care, I know I worked hard enough to get this spot, and obviously you and your friend did too!
