HELP. I'm a new grad nurse and Unemployed

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

So, I've been seeing a lot of discouragement lately on blogs and Job hiring sites about having no jobs as an RN in Las Vegas and if there is, they are requiring an at least 2 years hospital experience. I just want to know the other options I can take besides being a nurse in a hospital. I have no working experience and how can I get one if no one wants to hire a new grad nurse? :((

Hi, why would you apply for a MI license and then endorse back into NV? I'm not sure if you know this, but you're still going to have to meet the NV BON's requirements all over again even as an endorsement applicant.

So if you're okay with paying for another set of non-refundable application fees and wasting more time waiting to see if your educational requirements and other licensing requirements will meet the NV BON minimums, you'll not be able to start looking for a job in NV.

What you're planning to do is very common amongst the international applicants who strongly believe that once they obtain their RN license in a "easy, fast and cheapest" state then try to endorse over into their real desired state to work in, they find themselves more frustrated and disappointed as they soon find out, it's not an "automatic ticket or pass" to get endorsed.

They end up having to do whatever they were trying to avoid in the first place, be it the SS# not able to be provided or they don't have their local country's nursing license or out of concurrency compliance or lacking certain clinical hours or lacking some courses or other issues. Some try to avoid the English proficiency exams and passing and having to pay for that extra cost.

Hi there! Well I just want to clear things out. I want to be licensed in Michigan not because it's an "easy, fast, cheapest state" or "automatic ticket" to get endorsed.

You don't know my story steppybay. I applied for Michigan because my family was still in there. Now, things happened unexpectedly. They had to move in LV and then months later my boyfriend proposed to me so we decided to just settle down where my family is.

I'm not avoiding any English proficiency exam nor the SS# thing. I'm a registered nurse in the Philippines and also I'm an immigrant so SS# is not my problem.

I hope you stop generalizing. Just because I applied in Michigan, that doesn't mean I'm using it as an "automatic pass" to get endorsed.

Anyway, thanks for your time! Have a nice day!

come to reno, you'll get a job with little or no problem.

Hello! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll surely take that into consideration. I mean beggars can't be choosers right? Anyway, have a good day!

Good luck! 

Thank you! :)

Perhaps you should check your internet or computer connections as your posts are repeating themselves!

Noted. Sorry for that though :)

I mentioned this because I have been having problems with my computer on this site lately. However, the problems are only on this site, there are no problems elsewhere, which leads me to wonder if there is something wrong at the site end.

Sorry for stepping on your toes.

I didn't know from your original posting that you were even an international applicant, but it does fit the typical pattern of most international students/nurse, if you glance over in the "World" forum, under the "Nurse Registration" tab, you'll read of many doing this "state hopping" to try to get to their final true destination.

Kababayan, I didn't mean to single you out at all. Good luck and yes, I always have a good day. Thanks!

It's okay dear. I'm not offended or anything. I just wanted to clear things out.

Well I guess those who are "state hopping" have their own reasons. I don't see anything wrong with it though. It's their own money and time they are wasting. As long as they will be doing the right thing in a right way then that's okay. It's their own path they are paving, so it's up to them how to handle their frustrations if things don't go the way they want it to be.

Anyway, it's good to know that you're a Filipino too. Good luck to you too and thanks for your time! :) I appreciate it.

Well I restarted my router and so does my ipad. And I think it's kinda working now. Maybe it's just my connection? Thank you anyway! :) have a good day! :)
