Full time nursing students at CSN

U.S.A. Nevada

I am about to apply for the nursing program at CSN, but I don't know if I should apply for full time or part time. How time consuming is the full time program? Do you find it hard to balance your class schedule and study time?

I have 4 children, but 3 of them are in school all day and my youngest is in the CSN childcare. I don't work, but I have no idea what the schedule is like. Is it possible to juggle a family and take the RN program full time?

:bow:I will keep you updated on my progress. You have been so great!!!

Thank you for responding. If I start in spring 2009 when could I expect to graduate if I wasn't lucky enough to draw the lottery for summer? I am just wondering. Thanks.

Yes u will graduate in fall 2010. It doesnot matter if u will get into summer class or not. In summer u can get only one class (Mental Health) with part time students, but the other one (Med Surg) you can get in fall only. so summer class just make it easy to have one class in fall except two. i got in spring 2007, got in summer class thru lottery, still going to graduate in fall 2008.

best of luck.:nurse:

How many times did you apply before you were excepted? Did you know a lot of peopel that didn't get in on their first try?

I only applied once. I waited until I knew I would have enough points to get in. Since I already had a bachelors degree, when I decided to go back for nursing I only needed A&P 1 and 2. Without those 2 classes I knew I couldn't get in, so once I took both of them I applied and was accepted. I don't know of anyone who didn't get in. I had two friends who applied with me and they both got accepted. Unfortunately neither one of them made it through the first semester, so they are reapplying (sp?) for spring 09. They are both going for part-time, one has 28pts and the other 31pts...

I spoke to a counselor at the Cheyenne campus this week about applying, and she couldn't answer some of the basic questions I had about the application process. I'm not transferring any credits, so do I need official transcripts or can I submit unofficial transcripts? Do I need to submit a copy of my NLN results, or does the school already have a copy? She made it sound like I had tons of paperwork to turn it, but all she showed me was page 1 and 2 of the Limited Entry Application and the Student checklist? Is that all I need to turn in with my packet?? What about immunizations, physical, and CPR? Do those need to be done before I apply or before I start???

I hope you can answer these questions for me because when I asked her the only reply I got was "I don't know." She's the counselor showing me how to apply, but couldn't answer these questions. I don't want to turn in an incomplete packet.

Thanks.

Physical, CPR, and immunizations aren't required until you start. Make another meeting with a counselor at the W. Charleston campus, they seem to know more. When I was trying to have my ?s answered I first went to talk to someone at Cheyenne since that was the first appt they had available and I learned nothing. I then made another appt at W. Char and they were able to answer all of my ?s. Just make sure you turn in your application a few days prior to the deadline that way if you have forgotten something you still have time to get it taken care of.

Hello, I applied for the Fall 2010 Part Time Program. Does anyone know what the cut-off is regarding the points?

I just spoke the counselor today and I was informed that the part time point cutoff is a minimum of 29 points and they only accept 24 students, twice a year. The full time on the other hand accepts 136 twice a year the minimum points is 27.
