Just curious who else has applied for the Spring 06? I heard there were 298 apps which is better than Fall with 392 (I think).

Hi there. I did my LPN through CCSN and graduated in 1992. Good school - fully prepared me for the RN bridge program that I did in Indianapolis. (Hubby was in the Air Force and we moved after only 18 months at Nellis).

Just curious who else has applied for the Spring 06? I heard there were 298 apps which is better than Fall with 392 (I think).

When do you find out if you are in the program? Have you taken the NLN yet?

Are you entering the full or part -time program?

Hi Twinkie! The completion date is Nov 1st. It seems that maybe they will call the accepted students in about 1-2 weeks time (I hope so, that's what I can understand from others past posts). Then letters go out to everyone that applied 2nd or 3rd week in Nov. I'm hoping for that phone call!

They had 298 apps this time around, but they said they hadn't separated the full from part time apps. I'm still confused though, if they take 128 TOTAL or 128 full timers and 36 (?) part timers.

I took the NLN almost 5 years ago. It's barely being accepted before it expires, so I need to get in for Spring or I'll have to retest. Yuck! I got 126.

I'm doing volunteer work at St. Rose de Lima. I just finished 50 hours last night (in 9 days time! I am exhausted) I have 50+ more to do by Nov. 1st but Im doing 20 hours a week from here on out, so I'll be done with that by the end of the month, I hope. This is also the last appilication period that they are going to consider, and give points for, volunteer work. Another reason I need to get in for Spring. I have enjoyed the volunteer work anyways, no matter what. I was given one of the best compliments for my concern of a patients wife that was in dire straits, by one of the powerful Sisters at the hospital. It brought tears to my eyes when she thanked me for how I handled the fragile wife. Maybe I will be a good nurse, because I truely cared for this womans concerns, I wasn't just trying to pasify her.

The only thing I won't get the points for is Micro. I'm in it now, with Pantle . What a professor!!! But, it won't be done by Nov 1, so I don't get the 2 points for it.

24 points!!! I sure hope thats enough! I would have gotten in for Fall 05, but I hadn't realized I was ready to re-enter the program at that time, and they wouldn't take any late apps due to the 392 they already had. :o

Without having taken Psci or Micro and no volunteer work, I would have had 14 points. The cutoff was 13. I would have made it, but God has different plans for me I guess. Point system is different this time, with 10 points being given for 224.

The last time I got in the Rn program there, we had to have nutrition. Too bad that doesn't count anymore. At least it was only a one credit class. The class after me, had to have Critical thinking done. Thank goodness they dropped that too! In my 1st semester, we had to take a Nursing course (one credit) that took more time than the regular classes. Right after I left the program, the students fought the course with the NLN (I think) but lost. The class was still required. I don't know how to explain to you how happy I am that I don't see that course on the program anymore!

OK. I'm done.

I know you will get the call :balloons: My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Well, I talked to Debbie in the Limited Entry office yesterday and she let me know that 257 applied for F/T and 41 applied for P/T. Well, F/T accepts UP TO 128 students, but she informed me that that is a max #, not a guaranteed #. It depends on the # of students they can take at the clinical sights. The new students (started this month), only 104 F/T and 16 P/T were picked. That stinks! But almost 1/2 of us will get accepted, so I have "1/2 a chance" of getting in heehee.

Luckily there are so many holidays and birthdays at the end of the year, and you know how fast all of it comes and goes! At least my time is occupied while I wait! But I also just turned 35 while waiting. pooh...

Hang in there ;) You will get the news you have been waiting for and you will be starting the program in no time.

Are you given one choice Full or part- time program or can you do 1st choice 2nd choice and apply for both? Just curious :)

Also I took the Critical Thinking class it was requirement then and really enjoyed it.I did not have to take nutrition or the required Nursing course (one credit) although I think you are right ..the (one credit) course is now required.

As far as turning 35 that's great I have you beat by 3 years...each year I feel more self confident.

You can only apply for one or the other. If you select P/T and are able to go full time later, you are out of luck. Once your in, that is the route you must finish. I don't want P/T because it is like 7 semesters long.

I don't see the one credit course on the program sequence anymore. Maybe it is in the last semester though. I cant figure those ones out. I hope not though. It was too much work for one credit. Give it more credits and I wouldn't mind, as long as it is helpful to my career. That class was required for 2002 spring (when I first was accepted). It looks like it was cancelled.

Hi Lisa, :)

Your response is correct..once you pick a path you are locked in.I think you made the right choice. Full-time offers a lot more flexability than the part-time.

In the Part-Time all classes are at the Cheyenne Campus ..Lectures and labs are only availiable in the evenings and all Clinicals are only on the weekends.

These hours are great if you work 9am-5pm and have weekends off. Problem is a majority of the Las Vegas students work in Casino and Hotels that require you to work weekends. Plus you attend classes in the summer when the Full-timers are off. :o

Wish you the best ..please keep me posted.

I would not want to spend that much time in school (P/T semester wise)! I want it done! I don't have much trouble with the work thing. Im a mortgage loan officer, so I set my own hours. I worked in a casino doing cocktails (Sam's Town) when I was in the program in 2002. That was half of the reason that I had to withdrawl. Too many work hours with no way to cut them down. Casinos don't care too much about the employees.

I have 89 volunteer hours as of Tuesday's shift end. I volunteer tomorrow for 6 hours and Friday for 8. 100+ is inches away!!!! "I'll take volunteer for two points please Jack"!!!

Thanks for keeping track of me. I've dreamt every night, really every night, this week that I either got accepted, am starting my 1st day in NS, or am already a nurse. It's a great feeling, but it is starting to drive me crazy.
