What helped you pass the NCLEX...i'm due to take boards in june/july and need to start studying....I want a book that just just have questions but has a review of everything..... what helped YOU?

I agree Saunders is really good. I don't have the comprehensive review for Saunders but I have the Q&A CD for Saunders. I bought the Comprehensive review from Nursing Education Consultants called NCLEX-RN A comprehensive Study guide 5th edition.

Here is their website.

They are the same authors that write the Memory Notebook of Nursing. I love those books! They really helped me understand some tough concepts with pictures and mnemonics. I really like their book. At the end of each system, it has drug charts with side effect, client education. It also has diagnostic tests for each system at the end of the chapter. Really helpful.

Try and look through both books and see what fits for you.

Good luck! I take the boards in June/July too.

Saunders was incredible!! I basically did all my questions from the CD-ROM because I wanted to stay equipped with computerized testing. It was the perfect choice for me. I would recommend it to anyone.

Ok so looks like I'll be getting the Saunders Comprehensive review...which is this one

now which saunders book do I need that has a bunch of questions for me to do, and is fairly recent considering the above book was published in Dec 04

I don't think it's necessary to have a recent publishing as far as 2005, what you have to remember is that there's only one human body and it hasn't changed for years. Therefore the info in the books remain the same, now and then. There is a saunders book Nclex Rn Q&A with only questions on clients category.

I must respectfully disagree. The newer editions are incorporating alternative question types now found (to a small, but increasing degree) on the NCLEX, such as multiple response, ordered response, hot spot, and fill-in-the blank. And, the emphasis on the NCLEX after April, 2004, is different. The newer editions reflect these changes.

I am still using the "green" edition with all of my students and they are all still passing with this one. I also think alot has to do on how well they understand the material in the first place.........

Specific question format should not really make a difference if they understand the question also..............

I am going to continue to recommend the same one as it works......... :)

I agree. I know in my current nursing program, all of our exams have been "NCLEX based" but we have not had one fill in the blank or choose a hotspot; whereas recent grads had to pick the hot spot and/or fill in the blank. It is best to stay up on the newest trend. With a test bank of 3000+ questions, we are not bound to know every answer, so going with the new trends is best. I have purchased online with Kaplan, the Qbank, which has 1000 questions, NCLEX format and teaches you HOW to recognize what the question is actually asking you. I say http://www.kaptest.com It tells you exaclty where you are and gives you a cumulative average of all material you have gone over. Which ever you choose, good luck.
