hi, what is the saunders nclex study calendar......?

Specializes in Long Term, Psych, Dementia, Rehab.

It comes with the saunders comprehensive review for the nclex-pn/rn examination, 4th edition book. there's a cd that comes in the back of the book and you can take an assessment test and based on your score/results it will generate a 30-day study calendar for you or less/more days if you want (mines asked when did i plan to take my nclex-pn and based on my answer it customized a study calendar for me with a two day rest period each week).

I will give you an example of what week one looked like on my calendar:

week 4

Day 1: pediatrics (chapters: 37,38)

Day2: maternity (chapters: 20,21)

Day3: maternity (chapters: 22,23)

Day4: maternity (chapters: 24,25)

Day5: mental health (chapters: 62,63)

Day6&7: rest and relax

I wish i could have uploaded a copy of it on here so you could see what I am talking about. lololol

If anyone knows what i am talking about please respond

Thanks in advance again

I'm using it. Saunders is a big book so it's helpful in providing some direction I think. I don't know how personalized it is though. I'll try to attatch mine, not sure if it will work or not.

thank you so much pers. i did not even take notice of the attachment button when you are writing a message. lololololol:d

i know you said it is providing some direction for you. but other than that do you feel as if you are retaining anything that you did not already know. did you try testing again and if so how was your score?

i dont know if it is just me but it seems so overwhelming when i look at it having to do at least two chapters a day. do you find it do-able at all?

thanks again

I'm not worried about sticking to it 100% on schedule as I don't plan to test the end of the summer. Honestly, I'm not really enjoying all the pharm crammed together the way they have it and I'm struggling to get through it even when I have a couple of hours to sit and study. I think it will go much faster once I get all the pharm finished up and I can kind of catch-up on my schedule a bit. I've been spending a lot more time on the pharm sections than they suggest because it's one of my weakest areas.

I haven't retested. Based on my scores from the end of chapter practice tests, I'm not retaining a whole lot of the pharm! There are just too many meds per chapter for me to keep them all straight. It also doesn't help that I've been out of school for so long. I keep telling myself not to stress out about the pharm and use another resource but I keep going over Saunders anyway...

i took the assessment test and it said my total score is 74%. it also has a breakdown of my scores but it didn't explain what those meant. does the 74 mean i'll fail if that was the real test?

Im using the calendar and im on week 3 but what strange is that adult nursing is too many and I can't even finish it in a day so I skip 3 topics and will just do it at the end because I feel like i am cramming everyday and it is not good. Are you just taking Saunder's or your still doing something else to review?

And we have different calendar. I think they based it on ur grades on the assesment but anyways Pharma is on my last week which is good because i can focus more on it without cramming..

is the calendar effective? i've had a pre-assessment test the other day and i also saw my study calendar? will it matter if i follow it or not???? i've already started fundamentals of nursing and my calendar states i should start with pediatrics.... will it matter?

I think it would be a nice tool to use. But then, there are those who probably just start with Chapter 1 and go straight through. As long as you get the same results in the end, it does not matter.
