PVT Changed?

I took the NCLEX in August 2014 and didn't pass. When I did the PVT trick, it took me through to the payment screen. I compared it to the results of a friend who had taken the exam the day before and did the PVT trick and it did not allow her to go to the payment screen. It was a sad day.

I retook the NCLEX October 9th, 2014 and when I did the PVT trick, it took me to the payment screen. I could enter all of my credit card information. I didn't submit it because I didn't want to give them $200 without full confirmation, and quite frankly I was too frustrated to comprehend life and things, and luckily I didn't because I passed. I waited for my quick results and it said I passed. I think maybe the website changed and thus the difference in my two PVT attempts. Maybe if I had submitted my payment it would have rejected me but then again, I don't have $200 to just be giving to people like that.

Side note: $200 for an exam is ridiculous.

Thanks. And yea it's a crime, especially since the computer knows if you passed or not the second the test is over.

Hi, JK: your suspicion is correct, the 'trick' did indeed change in August. August 23rd, I think, to be more precise! Prior to the updating of PV's software (registration program), if one reached a page that asked for credit card info, it was assumed one had failed (and, therefore, needed to pay for another exam).

However, along with the update came the change in which EVERYONE has to go to a credit card page, enter their financial information, and then proceed (ostensibly to register for another exam).

The 'new' way to utilize how the software works (and guessing at test outcomes!) has you putting your credit card information in, hitting submit, and (after holding your breath) see if you CAN register again. If you are told "another registration cannot be made at this time", it is what people are now referring to as "the good pop up".

Thing is, the NCLEX is an exam that is scored by the computer twice (not the second it's over, btw!). Over the course of 24 hours, your exam is scored two times. If someone were to be 'borderline' for scoring purposes, and attempted to put in credit card info, it would depend what the computer 'thought' at that moment: if it has you as failing on the first scoring, it will happily take your $200 for another test. The trouble comes when you get scored a SECOND time, at which point you might find yourself passing.....and having donated $200 to PV for nothing. And it's not refundable, as it tells people that on at least two screens prior to them hitting submit!

So, in theory, someone who failed the first scoring but passed the second could get the most accurate (and I LOOSELY say "accurate) results after at least 24 hours has passed. And vice versa.

Honestly, using the PVT is probably the most nerve-wracking system for guessing that there is! I think paying eight bucks is worth it if available, but that's just me :)

You are right because i tried the trick minutes(i did it as soon as i came out of the exam) not even hours after taking the exam and it took my money,i hope i am one of the odds because i studied hard for this exam and knew most but not all the answers that i was asked.It is now 48hrs and my result are still not available.I ordered some books to read for next exam incase i indeed fail the exam because the trick works for almost everybody and maybe except me?who knows?Eitherway,i am not too scare to study over again because it is what i always want to be and i came a long way to give up now.

Good to know for Florida :)

In a lot of States, the official results take several days, weeks, even months before the websites are updated, or official mailings go out. Finding out in 48 hours via QR is the best option for those whose States only update once a week or so.....and I really feel for those in California: no quick results option at all! So....eight bucks is a tiny price to pay to ease anxiety, if you're otherwise facing weeks!
