Passed NCLEX RN 2015!!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hello, I told myself if I passed my nclex that I would come post my story here to maybe encourage those who have yet to take it. I graduated from an ADN program may 15th but didn't get my ATT until about the 1st of June. I took a break in between graduation and getting my ATT and did nothing school related. I signed up for the nclex on June 13. I was freaking out. I hadn't studied at all. I had recently gone through a breakup like the week before graduation and that really messed me up. Plus all the added stress of finishing finals and buying all the stuff for pinning and graduation really sent me in a downward spiral. I finally pulled myself together and bought the Saunders Q&A book with online questions. I worked about 75-100 questions every few days. Then I started doing research that said Kaplan was more like nclex. So I panicked and bought the Kaplan Q bank. I worked about 40% of the qbank and started freaking out cause I was averaging around 60. I was so nervous and overwhelmed I started to get discourage and preparing myself to lose my GN job I had just started once I failed nclex. I read posts on here but got mixed feelings from other people's experiences. I just knew I was going to fail. Well I pushed on and told myself I might as well try to pass it so I kept my date for June 13. I got to the testing center and the guy ahead of me was having problems scanning his palm before the test. The guy at the desk was talking about it messed up and I just knew this was a bad sign. That id have to reschedule and add more stress to my life lol. But the machine started working and I got all checked in. I started taking the test and answering the questions. I was terrified the whole time. I just knew I was doing terrible. Then I got to question 75 and hit next expecting it to give me more questions. But nope, the screen turned blue. I felt kinda numb I didn't know what to think. As I walked out I felt sorta confident. I didn't think I did so terrible that the test knew I had no chance of passing and cut me off. Then I came to read some posts here and that is when I got super discouraged. Lots of people talked about how they had tons of select all questions and I had maybe 5 I started thinking well mine wasn't hard enough I know I've failed now. I was in an extreme state of panic for the 48 hours I had to wait to get my quick results. Then I paid the fee and was so shocked to see PASS under the status section. I was so happy I wanted to scream in the middle of orientation at work. It truly is one of the best feelings. As for the nclex I don't really feel that the Kaplan or Saunders questions really helped me but the nclex format looks exactly like the Kaplan qbank so I felt like I was practicing those questions. Really the questions on the nclex seemed way easier than any tests I had in nursing school. That's why I was sure I had failed. Now I'm not saying to be as ill prepared as I was for the test, but I knew it was pointless to study endless hours of content. I didn't want to even look at content. Honestly I felt nursing school prepared me well for the nclex. Now that may not be true for everyone but that's how I felt. I can't wait to see my license post on the BON. And to all those who haven't taken it. Don't be discouraged by any posts you may read on here. That really added the extra stress prior to my nclex. And to those taking it soon I wish y'all good luck. Y'all can do it!!
