  1. I WISH i could say NOOOOOO girl! of course NOT! But honestly, that is NOT the world we live in. It will ALWAYS be a lingering issue...especially if u live in the south. But don't be discouraged! If ur school is in a big city then u have a better chance of getting in and by without being targeted. I went to school in a small country town of Odessa,TX. Experienced racism from a white and Hispanic professor, as did the two other black girls in my class... even had a Mexican lunch lady in the hospital cafeteria picking on me for NO reason whatsoever! ...only to later be told by her coworker that she said she "hates black people". The co-worker that told me found it offensive and reported her for it bcz her son in law was black and she noticed how the lady had been treating me. Granted, I was shocked that she told me what the lady said but little did she know I couldn't care less that she hated me because I wld be graduating with high honors while she would be scooping chicken for a living the rest of her life bitter about other peoples success. Good is not enough, u have to do GREATER than the rest. But its possible. Keep on pushing
  2. YES, I could certainly see how your question could have been perceived as belittling. Even the "yo mamma" as opposed to "your mother" seems condescending. If I was assigned to an unfamiliar unit as a CNA and the RN that i'm working with, that has the authority to potentially jeopardize my employment so gracefully "welcomed me" with such a tasteless introduction, I would feel the need to protect myself as well as my job in the case that I may fall victim to future tasteless comments or incident's. You should show more professionalism and tact while on the job. The fact that YOU mentioned the (Race card) shows how insensitive and perhaps racist u are and that there may have in fact been malice behind your "question". A Guilty conscience will speak volumes. Instead of trying to victimize yourself, realize that you are wrong, which I think u may know how wrong u were since u felt the URGE to apologize. I just hope u don't speak that way to your patients.
  3. u will do well!! overwhelm that fear with confidence!
  4. haha i diddd see it & its the most beautiful sight to see thanks dear, congrats to u!!!
  5. by labs i mean common electrolytes esp sodium & k+. I got many questions stemming from those two in both my RN and even my LVN boards. Good luck!!
  6. HAHAHAH nope! I believe in the P v. trick! not only did i see my name on the BON this morning, I also SAVED $8 by NOT paying for quick results that i already *knew* wld be passing thnx to the pvt . hmmm that $8 can be used to buy a margarita or something .. i'm elated.. from being a provider making $7.25 to an LVN & now an RN/BSN with unlimited potential. Its surreal, I feel so blessed.
  7. no clue how to do that
  8. hahaha vent on my dear vent on:up:
  9. Sorry to hear you didnt pass, but your optimistic spirit nd perseverance is wonderful! I took mine on the same date as well and also stopped at 75. What helped me was ATI.. are u able to get access to online ATI test banks? I believe if u focus on that it will help u IMMENSELY. they also have a telephone app thats available on smart phones, that waY u can do test questions while on the go. I never touched a kaplan book or program. I wldnt even know what it looked like if someone showed it to me. Saunders is great, especially the lab values section and is a great way to review content. I tried NCSBN bt it didnt help i wish i wld have saved my $50 tbh. But u have the right mind frame, it could happen to anyone and has happened to many great and successful nurses. u got this! @baddie
  10. yea pretty much what HE said.
  11. OK! i haven't logged on in FOREVER, ive been on the site reading some posts but had not actually logged on to reply or post anything in about 3 years lol, I just wrote this post bcz after finally deciding to log on i saw a post i made on here when i took my NCLEX-PN in 2011 giving tips and advice. WELL here I am, after just taking my NCLEX-RN last week on the 10th of june to be exact to do the same thing! since TX updates its BON website twice weekly, i have yet to see my "official" results & i REFUSE to pay an extra $8 to see unofficial results so based on the PVT giving me the "good pop up" i'm claiming the great news that I passed!! lol i also did my PVT after my LVN test in 2011 and got the good pop up and it was accurate. My nclex RN exam was UNBELIEVABLE...lol honestly i'm not exaggerating when i say out of 75 questions, at LEAST 40 were SATA, i got NO math, NO audio, 1 picture, maybe 3 drugs, quite a few priority questions,1 arrangement question and SURPRISINGLY i got a few community health questions! That DEFINITELY made me grateful to have taken community health seriously in nursing school bcz i never touched it while studying. I see people on here stating that they studied 8+ hours a day for 10 weeks at a time and i felt so unprepared bcz i literally went to starbucks two days to study and did test question in bed while watching netflix a couple of hours a day for a week. Essentially, i felt i had studied enough in nursing school and had lost that zeal after graduation. HOWEVER, i don't advise anyone to do what i did:no:! What i did use when i did questions was ATI, SAUNDERS& ncsbn (NCSBN did NOTHING for me personally) i averaged 99% on the ATI predictor in school and used the phone app and online exams as well as the yellow ati book that came with the ATI review they gave us at Texas Tech prior to graduation. To be honest, while taking that exam, i personally don't feel that studying any more would have SIGNIFICANTLY helped me... In my opinion, with NCLEX even if u dont know the exact answer, thinking like a nurse will get u %60 of the way there... %20 comes with going with ur first mind. We retain bits of info that our brains immediately identify at first glance. Tx BON updates its website on Tuesdays/Thursdays so ill have my "officially official" results tomorrow lol... hopefully im not celebrating toooo soon Guess ill log back in after taking my CRNA boards in another few years if God says the same haha (wait are there even boards for CRNA?) i'm not even sure **extra advice** know your labs, know ur labs, know your labs know ur labs lol
