Passed NCLEX/PN, delayed license due to past conviction

Nursing Students NCLEX

Please help. I am in California and had to wait over a month for my NCLEX/PN results. I just received my letter today, however my license applicaiton is delayed due to a past misdeamor conviction.

My heart is acheing. I called the BON they said it will take another week to a week and a half to review my conviction record.

Do you know anyone that got their license after all this. I am scared, worried sick, out of mind with worry. Please give me some advice.

Thanks

Cases such as yours are always handled on an individual basis, so no one can comfortably predict what will happen for you. You need to stay in communication with the board and do everything they require of you. Hope you get a positive result in the end.

MayBoo,

I know exactly how you feel I received my results last friday and I recieved the same letter, and I am so nervous, scared and worried but I do know of someone who has gotten there license w/ a past misdemeanor conviction, but like the one before me said it is handled on an individual basis, so just prey and wish for the best.

OMG, you do not know how grateful I am that you have written me. I am a wreck every second of the day. I cannot stop thinking about it.

Are you in California?

.

How did things go for the person you knew that received their licence with a past conviction. Did they have to go before the board? I am trying to prepare myself with what tiny bit of sanity I have left.

I am praying, and I will pray for you as well. Please pray for me.

hi mayboo,

i know exactly how you feel. i like your courage to be able to post this question because when i was in the same shoes i was unable to do that because people can be judgemental. i was convicted about three months before my gradution.i live in california. bay area to be exact. i got the same letter the board sent to you. i wrote a letter back explaining what happen and what i learned and that such thing will never happen again . my job wrote a letter, my friend and my aunty. the letter was about the positive things that i have be doing after the conviction. be sincere and take responsibility for what happen and promise not to do it again when you write your letter. we are all human being and we make mistakes. please do stay away from trouble after that because the second time it will be difficult to convince the board. i don't know what the crime is but if it has nothing to do with child/elder abuse it is kind of easy. pray hard, i will pray for you. the board make their decision within two months and i got my license. good luck.

Hi MayBoo,

I do live in California, and this person did not have to go before boards they just had to send in all there court papers, police reports, etc and just waited

And Im so happy that you wrote about it because I wanted to but I just felt to embarassed. I know it sucks so bad because you get your results and you pass but you cant really be excited about it because theres still that wait and what if.

But please keep me posted on any thing that you hear, or even if you just want to vent. I will be praying for you, Good luck.

I am praying. I believe so much in the power of prayer. The more I read these posts from such careing and kind people I feel so proud to be a part of the nursing comunity.

Mine was a misdeamor of a shoplifting conviction. I sent them a letter with my application explaining in detail the offense. I also stated in the letter how ashamed I am of my behavior and take full responsibility for my actions.

I am ashamed of such behavior, there is never an excuse to break the law.

After I received the letter stateing that I had passed but my license was being delayed so that the BON could go over my past conviction I called the BON right away. They told me it would be a week to a week and a half before they will contact me regarding the situation.

I am hopeful I do not have to wait yet another month or more to find out. What torture.

Thank you for all the support. It means so very much to me. More than you know.

I am in the same boat...made a very stupid mistake a few years ago and now its something that will be brought to the attention of so many people. I just want to die. I am so afriad it will keep me from working as a nurse. I will keep you in thoughts and prays...hope all goes well.

hey mayboo,

how long ago was your conviction? i'll keep you in my prayers. everything will turn out right..

Hi MayBoo!

I am in the same situation right now. I had a misdemeanor for petty theft but it was reduced by the judge intoan infraction. Can you please help? Is there anything that you advise that I should include in my detailed description to the board. :crying2:
