In Need of Advice and Support

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Okay so here's the deal. I take my NCLEX in 3 weeks and I am freaking out!! I had a complete break down last night and was in tears and everything because I want to pass first try (just like everyone who takes the exam of course). Plus I have my dream job on the line (a position in an Emergency Department) so if I don't pass that means I probably won't be able to start that job and with my luck they won't want me anymore if I don't pass first try. I've been studying like crazy. I've been mainly doing Kaplan's On Demand lessons and practice questions along with questions from NCLEX prep books. I feel like I'm not doing well on practice questions though which I think is why I'm so down on myself right now. So basically I'm kind of stuck in a rut and just need some words of wisdom from those of you who have succeeded on the NCLEX and just need some advice from those who may be in the same position I am. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Aww! I know how you feel - I am taking my exam in 3 weeks and have an interview coming up for a job. I haven't gotten it yet, but I am freaking out! I figured that for two weeks, I will review sections in Saunders and supplement with NCSBN. It gives me about a day to get through each topic. I also try doing about 150-200 questions a day. The last week, I will review the toughest parts and spend way more time doing questions...hopefully close to 300.

You can do it! Keep focusing! :) I'm praying for you!

My best suggestion is to BREATHE! Don't freak yourself out. The ED clearly thinks you have what it takes. Review is good but remember the NCLEX is testing that you are safe to be a nurse they at not looking for straight A's.....you can pass with a minimal number of questions.

BREATHE! ((HUGS))

@rnaria My review plan is similar to yours so that makes me feel better. It's always good to hear from others in the same situation so you know you're not alone. Good luck to you!! I'm sure we'll both pass with flying colors :)
