Nclex RN in October!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi guys!

I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico in 2011 with a BSN, Yep! a whole year and next month I will finally take the NCLEX, it's been a rough journey applying for liscensure in Tx. It was Rough because I am considered an international applicant. Well, that took me a year and in August I got my ATT I was happy and so excited when that email arrived, but shortly after I was terrified that the ATT mean NCLEX! Well to be honest I've studied here and there but it wasn't a full blown study session(so to me it doesn't count like studying),a few questions here, and there & Read some chapters. Now it's been a year since I've been in a health care environment, I feel like I've forgotten all that I learned in nursin school. So naturally I'm panicking. When I read the practice questions, I panic and answer them wrong, when I read the rationale I'm like "DUH! I knew that, why didn't you read more carefully!?"

Anyways, here I am exactly one month and a day until I take this behemoth of a test and I need advice, words of encouragement, anything that will alleviate and help towards passing the test.

study material:

NCLEX Exam and QB by Linda Stanford (app)

NCSBN flash cards

NCLEX REVIEW APP(can't find who made it...maybe not so reliable)

Mosby's RNtertainment: An NCLEX® Review Board Game

Prentice Hall's Reviews & Rationales: Comprehensive NCLEX-RN Review

Thanks guys!

HI you and I study the same, I'd rather do questions because that's how I train my mind to tackle the test. Reading is for school. Nclex is all about questions and answering them and analyzing. But sometimes you just have to go back to the book and look at certain concepts and that's fine.

In my kaplan, I was getting discouraged because it is hard questions. I was getting 50s and 60s. sometimes even 40s, but I look at rationales.

Hello Vnikor!!I also read each rationales after i answer them..so when are you taking the exam and when did you graduated nursing? :)

Hi I just graduated this summer. I recently took it and still waiting for the results. I stopped at 75 and I felt a little bit happy and relieved. However now when waiting for my results, im starting to doubt myself, if i did good or bad. :(

Oh wow that's amzing!!i know that the waiting for the result is more frustrating than waitinv for the exam date to come..you're done with your part, now its time to let God do the rest! Prayers and faith will do the wonders! :) I really hope that i can take it this october eventhough i know that i forgot a bunch of things already..you'll never know when youre ready until you are already in the situation, i dont want to prolong the agony so the earlier the better! From which state are you by the way?im from NC :)

Yes, Let Go and Let God. He knows I did my best, I was even talking to myself, all serious in that test center lol

Yeah I would go and take it soon if you have a date and the prolonging is just going to scare you. I'm in tx. Show up and focus. This is like going to interviews: you don't know what questions they are going to ask you, and takes couple of days if they want to hire you or not. Lol

The ultimate reason why i wanted to take it this october so badly is because my EDD is on november! :) i dont want to split my attention between focusing to study for the exam and taking care of my baby so im really trying to answer as mang questions as i could! :) i have a friend that took the exam last year and he told me that he just answered like 1200 questions from kaplan and it did helped him with how to attack the questions in the real nclex because they look almost the same with regards to the difficulty..Is it true that there are many SATA in the real nclex exam?just wondering cause thats one thing that i hate about answering cause its tricky

Yes the Kaplan has like 1300+questions. I did all of it. However, the satas there really is no way to study for that. When I did my exam, i had handful of sata and few drag and drops and couple of exhibits and two images. No math or hotspots. All this in 75 questions. Oh yeah I had a lot of priority question (first/essential/report) kind of questions...

But i'm still feeling sad and nervous I don't know my result.

Just hope for the best!they say that if you find the exam difficult then thats a good sign because the exam is getting more and more difficult when you are picking the right answer! I wish you all the best!!i think you did great! :)
