NCLEX-RN 2nd shot

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Last November 30, I took NCLEX (2nd try) and after answering all 265 questions, I passed. I was so overwhelmed with the questions because I got a lot of SATA, medication, prioritization, and infection control. I also have some delegation, diseases (as far as I can remember, mostly GI), solving, arrange-in-order, exhibit and an illustration something.

[My review materials: ATI DVD series, Pathophysiology by Hogan/Hall, and Lippincott's Q & A. *All of them are kind of outdated]

Looking back, what really helped me were:

1. Get over the first attempt. For me, moving on is one of the hardest thing to do. I always let my past haunt me until I feel frustrated with my self. True that it isn't a nice thing to fail especially when you really want it so badly. But as they say, past is past and you cannot change it. Have a pep talk with yourself and move on.

2. Do not make excuses. After my first attempt, I knew I was gonna fail. But I guess, its a defense mechanism to reason out why I fail. I always say, "oh I fail because of this and that". You can't expect things will go smoothly. Life throws curve balls when we least expect it (even when we do). So you have to recognize and accept the fact that you fail because of one thing - you are not prepared.

3. Plan and stick to it. Preparation is one of the most important tool in passing NCLEX (or in whatever area of our lives). So make a study plan and be sure to follow it. Either 2 hours everyday or more, just stick with whatever your plan is. But don't forget to take breaks...unwind.

4. Pray. Faith without action is dead. Hardwork and prayer should go together. Believe me, prayer can do wonders. It's also a nice thing if you have family and friends praying for you and encouraging you as well. And always remember that God is just a prayer away :)

P.S. When you claim that you'll pass NCLEX, believe it in your heart that you will.

God bless!!! :) :) :)

I hope it can inspire or help you :)

Thanks so much for the encouragement!

Congrats! Will take mine in less than two weeks. Hoping for the best! :)

You're welcome! :)
