NCLEX RN 12/17 - Good Pop up! Glory be to God!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Took NCLEX RN at 2:00pm today and computer shut off around 87th question. I was in there for 2 hours and 45 min. Checked PVT (via cell phone) after "delivery successful" and got the "good pop-up." Just checked again when I got home on home computer, with the same good pop up.

LOTS of priority questions, which patient to see/call first, conference questions, and it seemed I was getting SATA's like crazy! Also had put in order question, 1 exhibit, EKG, a few meds (some I've never heard of), no math calc.

I'm exhausted and drained. Once I get official results, I will post tips, references, etc.

THANK YOU ALL NURSES for this wonderful website!

congrats!!!!! now im having anxiety attack tomorrow is my test... as of now im just trying to answer some more questions. just 10 questions at a time. So far im getting 60-80% :(

Thank you!!! I can't celebrate until I see the official results. I'll be driving to CABON before the end of this week.

Good luck on your exam tomorrow! Read, read, read the question before looking at the answer choices. Once you get to reading the answers, eliminate 2 as much as possible. Don't rush or get discouraged. You will do just fine.

begosh congrat and we hope to hear you share your experience with us.

Thank you! It's been years since I graduated...18 years post BSN. Studying was definitely a challenge and the decision to get back into nursing was a difficult one as well. I will definitely share once I get the official results.

Thank God for seeing you through its been a long journey. I am an international student trying to take mine in two weeks but i am a bit confuse about conference question can you pls give me explaination on those type of question or where i can practise more of those. Your help is much appreciated.

Congrats Begosh! Can't wait to hear your tips for passing NCLEX. I need to start preparing for this exam. I'm wondering which books to buy, could you please recommend the best one? I'm a mother of three little ones so I'm money tight, if possible I would like to buy only ONE book that has everything I need on it. Thanks so much for your advice.

@madjoa and Luyago:

For conference questions: I chose responses based on Airway, breathing, circulation, Maslow, stable vs. unstable, acute vs. chronic...as applicable. I'm thinking they just threw in "conference" to confuse us a little because it can also be a seminar or symposium. Also, I found the stem of the questions to be pretty straightforward. For example (these are just examples...NOT from actual test..."what would be priority discussion during a bioterrorism conference?" Or "what's essential to discuss during a cardiac conference?" Always go back to the STEM of the question...what is it really asking?

NCLEX is a TEXTBOOK exam...forget what you saw during clinicals or hospital duty. I am a foreign BSN graduate...as I mentioned, 18 years post. And I struggled with thinking in terms of a "textbook exam mind set." Once I got passed this struggle, I started answering questions correctly...meaning...getting more right than wrong.

As for which resources to use? I came upon MaryAnn Hogan's book and went to B&N to browse through it. Formatting of this book fit my type of learning and decided to purchase it. Granted, I already have Saunders, PDA, Kaplan 2012-2013 Strategies, NCLEX 10,000, Exam Cram, Hurst (2 books) and also did NCSBN. I attended live Kaplan and Hurst in 2010 as well. (yes, 2010 ... 2 years ago and took the exam initially in June 2011 and again Dec 17, 2012).

So as not to spend too much money on resources, I suggest going to B&N and browsing through the NCLEX books they have. See what best fit your learning type and go from there. And btw, it's cheaper to purchase online. I spent lots on books and flash cards etc. And finally stuck with Pearson Reviews & Rationales:

Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-RN, (013262107X), Mary Ann Hogan, Textbooks -

Barnes & Noble.

Good luck to you both! Keep the faith!

hi there i think i failed for the first time this NCLEX RN exam i took the exam this morning at 8am... i have more SATA, priority/which one first, EKG, i drug computation, a lot of Meds, Seminars/Conference/Meetings of Nurses.... i noticed the computer asked me a break when i was in 63 question... then when i came back.... i knew it.... im answering same kinda questions when im on the test before i took the break... 75 question shut down.... i never tried the vue trick yet but my status is already delivered... so yeah i failed i think!

Think positive! Try the PVT. I told myself prior to the test, I wasn't going to check PVT. But curiosity really killed the cat and I succumbed to it.It's not official. At least it's something. Why do you think you failed?

The number of questions is irrelevant. One can pass or fail with 75q, 118q, 179q or 265q. This could mean you answered consistently over the pass line.

ok during my first 40 questions i think all the questions is totally jumping from easy to difficult then i notice questions are so hard like i have exhibits of one EKG, super hard MD's med order which one u need to correct, then i think the computer is trying to think when i was on break lol... so when i came back from break some question was similar to those questions that i encountered which is i knew that im not sure... my 2nd to the last question was questioned to me for the fourt time then my last answer which i believed a 30cc of urine output for two hours is the best first to report to the MD... so then shut down.... how to do the pop up thing i dont know about that...

Oh wow! I had a question which med to correct too! My pc stopped for break around 71st question I think. Which I took. Then continued to 87q and shut off. Your exam sounds really similar to mine. To check pop up...sign on to pearsonvue and make sure status states "delivery successful." Click register on the left of your screen...follow the prompts. Act like you're registering to take exam.If it reads something like..."our records indicate you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your board...blah...blah. Another registration cannot be made at this time" then you PASS! If it takes you to credit card page, then unfortunately, this is an unofficial fail.
