NCLEX PN while in BSN program?

Hi, I am currently enrolled in a BSN program, finishing up my first year of classes. I was wondering when or even if I could sit for the LPN exam to work part time while in school? I've heard a lot of comments on not working while in nursing school, but I'm actually in my third year of schooling (first year in a BSN program), and my previous major had been a chem major where I had taken courses such as bio chem, ochem, A&P together while working 30 hrs a week, so it's something i prefer to do, and have always handled quite while, so the advising of not doing so is not necessary. I simply would prefer to have a better job then my current job, while working my way through school. Has anyone been in a bachelor's program and done so? I understand that in some cases it is up to the college as well as the states BON, but i am curious. Thanks!!

It depends on the state. In NY & NJ you are only eligible if you complete a program of practical nursing. Other states the option must be built into your nursing curriculum so that at the 'break point' where you can test you have completed coursework in fundamentals, pedi, adult, geriatric , OB & mental health.

here in florida, you have to complete the BSN in order to test for the LPN unless its built in the program.
