Hi all!

I'm looking for reviews for this class. It's next Mon-Thurs, from 8:30 - 4:30 each day. I'm scheduled to work Thurs and Friday, so I'd have to try to arrange to get off on THurs to be able to attend, as it's a $349.00 commitment.

Any and all opinions would be appreciated, especially if you've taken the class yourself, but even if you know someone else who took the class.

I graduate in Dec., and between now and then this is the only timeframe that works in my schedule that will still give me enough time to actually use the material. The test questions will be good for 90 days, which is about January.. hmmm. Maybe I should wait and take the class in December, after finals? That might make more sense since I probably won't be sitting for boards within 90 days.

Anyway, any opinions are appreciated.

Thanks! :mortarboard:

Hi there. I took the Kaplan course while I was still in school...like the last 3 weeks before graduation. Fortunately my school paid for the class, and we also had access to the Kaplan Q-bank and the Question Trainers. In my opinion the class was somewhat of a waste. The classroom part only teaches how to break a question apart and using test taking strategies to find the correct answer. I found that when I took NCLEX, I didn't use their strategies so much except maybe the ABC's. The Q-bank and Question Trainer were fantastic...really good for practicing critical thinking type questions. I recommend them highly. Good luck!

EDIT: Also wanted to add that the classes go over 75 or more questions during the classes individually..using test taking strategies..forgot to put that in..:)

Thread moved to NCLEX Discussion Forum for more responses. Good luck.

Kaplan is a great investment, all the best

hi,

yes i would wait till you finish nursing school. I took the Kaplan course and I passed the first time. I took the test two weeks ago. The Kaplan is very helpful in that the questions on the NCLEX are the way that Kaplan questions are asked. Good Luck. Yes wait.

I agree with biggy, I would definately wait until after graduation. Kaplan is great! I passed on the first try with 75 questions.

oh, I'm so glad you guys have responded! thanks!

I ended up not taking it when I originally posted that I was thinking about it, but am now considering taking it the week before our HESI exam (we need a 900 on it to pass for graduation).

For those of you who have already graduated and have taken NCLEX, do you think it would help to take it before HESI? Or is your advice still the same, should I wait until after HESI to take it?

Thanks again, and the Kaplan rep came to school a couple of weeks ago and did mention that they offer all sorts of review classes, including PN/VN testing. :)

I think you would benefit by taking the course before the HESI exam. I wish I would have done that. I had to take the HESI 3x before I got a 900.

Good Luck and keep us posted!

thanks marino! i think i will take the Kaplan review the week before the HESI. it certainly can't hurt, right? ;)

we were quoted $299 plus 50 if we want the extra questions. you guys know if that's the average price?

:)
