Hurst Review vs. Kaplan

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hello. I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts/opinions on the Live Hurst Review, DVD review, or online review versus what Kaplan has to offer. I mean I could go online and read testimonials, but I'm sure companies arent willing to post negative feedback of their programs :p

A few friends of mine are loading up and going from TN to TX for a Live Hurst Review over spring break, and one of the advantages I've seen from it is if you pay the 350 for the live review, you can go to any other scheduled live review again for only 25 bucks. However, I've also heard that it's not the greatest, so I'm just getting insight and opinions. I've also heard Kaplan is great and that it helps for critical thinking skills, not just reinforcing information that you've learned.

Any thoughts/suggestions/insight/insults? :p

Tazgirl76-I've taken both Hurst and Kaplan. I found that Hurst was very helpful for learning content but there is a lot of information that they do not cover(pharmacology). I felt that doing questions and reading rationales through Kaplan I learned more. Also if you take Kaplan there is a course book that they give you which is very helpful. Kaplan also has content review videos which were great. Taking my exam in 2 days I'll let you know which one I felt was better!

I am graduating in 2 weeks. Still going back and forth on Kaplan and Hurst. Can anyone who has taken them recently give me feedback on the strengths and weakness on both these? They are pricey and I want my money's worth :)

All feedback appreciated!!!

I ONLY used kaplan and I LOVED IT!! Questions are a lot harder than the actual NCLEX, so it definitely prepares you well. Some of my friends that took both hurst and kaplan said that hurst really helped with content. HOWEVER, Kaplan also has videos that do an excellent job in reviewing content!!! Kaplan is the way to go!! I took my NCLEX July 11 and passed with 75 questions!!

At my school Kaplan was required and I hated it. I thought it was a complete waste of time. However now I realize it did help. I never really used the course book just did q bank, all the content quizzes, and the trainers. I also did the Hurst videos with Marlene. I admit her voice can get to you but when I took my finals which were the ATIs I could hear her talking and I aced those. I also did Saunders review book for the areas I was really weak in. It sounds like a lot but it really wasn't. Hurst is good for content review, Kaplan helps you understand the test (like how the questions are worded and what to look for in answers) and Saunders was simply good for areas you might be weak in. I just took my NCLEX, got 75 questions and with the pvt I am getting the good pop up.
