How To Apply For NCLEX in California?

HI! Im new here, very very confused and has a bunch of questions in mind....

I want to apply for NCLEX in california. I already downloaded and printed the application forms in their site.

I recently passed the June06 exam here in the Philippines, and still up to now i havent got my license.

My questions are: ^^

1. What, from those forms i downloaded, will i mail to them?

1.a. i went to my school last week and finished other forms like breakdown of educational prog, nursing program verification and even the request for transcript form.. yes they already handed to me my transcript of records yesterday and theyve already acomplished the needed info in those other forms.

2. A photocopy of my diploma enough to make me eligable to take the exam? since i dont have my license yet?

2.a. i read from the forms that if i dont have a local license yet i have to write a written explanation for that. Is there anyone that did that??

3. About SSN.. How can i get that? Is it a requirement before taking the exam or a requirement to practice nursing after passing in california? if i mail my application and my SSN is blank will they not accept my application?

I am in the situation as you are. May I know which school you graduated from?

1. Yes. The forms in the website you must print and submit directly to BON Sacramento. On one long 9x12 envelope, put your application with picture, hardcard (fingerprint form --- can be downloaded too and be printed with fingerprints at Carriedo NBI OR better go here and apply livescan for about 76 bucks), check or money order, written explanation why no license yet, and a copy of your diploma.

BON Sacramento requires the school to DIRECTLY submit (as opposed to LVN applications) your transcripts with BREAKDOWN and Request for Records to them via mail.

2. BON California does not require local license for the NCLEX RN Exam.

3. SSN is optional requirement. However, upon passing the NCLEX-RN Exam, before your license can be issued here in the US, you must have a valid SSN. NOw, being a tourist.... you need to find an employer who will petition you, provide you with work authorization, and SSN which you can now submit to the BON.

I have already filed my application last Sep 29. According to them, it takes 3-6 months. I submitted via the hardcard process and not livescan which was a mistake. I hope the turnaround times wont be that delayed.

Guys, does anyone here know if I can file both for LVN and RN Exams at the same time? I want sort of a buffer in case (God forbid) I don't make it for the NCLEX RN...

And for those who ticked the interim permit request.... does the validity of the permit start upon being eligible to take the exam OR it depends on you whether when to make it valid.

a question in fingerprint... you said "better go here and apply for a livescan for 76bucks" you mean in US? is there a livescan here in Philippines?

ei about those forms coming from your school.. the request for transcript, breakdown of educational prog...

by the time you submitted your application, did your school really mailed those forms at the same time?

will there be 2 separate mails coming from you and from the school?

or you could just mail it your self and just addressed it (supposedly coming from the school) from your school even though you mailed it yourself?

im sorry for the newbie questions i just dont have any idea to be honest -.-

(1)Like with the Transcripts with RLE and Diploma, is it really certified true copy or the original copy with the school seal?..

(2)and is the Nursing Program Verification Form really included as one of the requirements?..[or it does not apply to all applicants]

(3)May I please have a copy of the written explanation you sent to CABON, so I may have a guide in writing? ??? [PLEASE post it with your message]

(4) For the confirmation card, where can I get the First Class U.S. Postage Stamp?

(5) For the fingerprint card, I have the Aliases and the Social Security No. blank, which is more appropriate for me to write, NONE or NOT APPLICABLE(N/A)?..And with the race, since only one letter fits the small box, what information should I print? [i am from the Philippines, by the way.]

(6)And lastly, how did you deal with the bank draft?..What steps did you take?..

i requested the original transcript from my school. I thought only the TOR is needed. can someone enlighten me on this?

Contact the board directly and they can mail you or download the application from internet. if you google CA board...you should get the site as well.

Please take the time to read especially the International forum and the sticky California as initial licensure. Remember you are not applying for NCLEX but licensure to be a RN in the US of which NCLEX is part of that process. There are issues with CA as they do not give hard license without SSN and with current retrogression issues you will be waiting a long time with no guarantee of visa due to high demand and if not in the US within 3 years with CA you loose your application.

All information can be found on the board of nursing website to the state you want and search engines are really good at finding them

i also have many ques..i'll really appreciate if anyone answers...

1.) is it really advisable to process these papers before enrolling for a review or i can review first and take the exam then process these??

2.) The forms, breakdown of edu.prog, nursing program verification and request for transcript.... i will only need to pass these to my school right?? are these the only forms needed to pass to my school or there are other things??

3.) and what are those fingerprint card?? of livescan thing?? i really have no idea about that.... im really sorry for the trouble...

4.) How did you apply for it? Have you contacted CA?? via email??
