Confused Help Needed

I did Kaplan and lacharty and passed the 2nd time I did over 6,700 questions

Hey there! Please try not to get discouraged. I took my NCLEX RN 3 times and finally, I'm an RN. I completely understand how frustrating and frightening it is to study for this test and take it again. It isn't the end of the world, although, it may feel like it is, but all you can do is keep your head up and try again. I did, and you can too.

After taking it 3 times, I finally noticed that for the NCLEX RN, you need to know just enough content (basic general nursing knowledge), but you need to focus more on practicing NCLEX RN review questions.

*I suggest you do more questions than content*

The first 2 times I took it, I studied with HURST review and it is absolutely excellent in content, however, it lacks in the preparation in how to answer NCLEX RN review questions.

I know you don't like KAPLAN, and I didn't like it at first because I had that in nursing school as practice, but I encourage you to stick with KAPLAN QBank questions because it trains your brain in eliminating the incorrect answers and leads you to the correct #1 priority answer. Their Decision Tree works on 90% of all NCLEX RN review questions. Trust me, don't rush through KAPLAN questions, take each question and learn how to answer them.

This worked for me...(I studied everyday for a minimum of 2 hrs and a max of 5 for 4+ weeks !!! )

-I have Saunders CD only, no book, I did all the 10 question quizzes and book marked the questions I got wrong and reviewed those more in detail. I also did the 75 question assessment. Make sure you understand the rationales to all the questions!!!

- La-charity delegation & prioritization book helped me out a lot! Do all 18 chapters and READ & UNDERSTAND rationals!

- The study guide found on this site...print, read, highlight, and look up what you dont know...know infection control mnemonics

- I had five 100 pg 3x5 spiral bound note cards that I broken down by system with what I thought was important (ex...heart, renal, liver, lungs, infection control, meds (Dig, theophylline, Dilantin..., know toxic levels and S&S) ,labs ect...

- My last 3 days before the test I read over the study guide & my note cards along with practice questions in the evenings (Practice questions are VERY IMPORTANT).

- I had a friend come over who tested with me the same day and we reviewed my cards and we just talked out loud to each other on the various info....this helps!

- The NCLEX wasnt as bad as i thought...DO NOT rush, read and understand what the question is asking. It took me 2.5 hours to complete 75 questions.

-I had 22 SATA, 1 pic, 1 rhythm strip & 1 math

Finally...stay positive, put in the study time, and most important pray!
