anybody who studied with saunders exclusively and passed the nclex?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I have been studying with Saunders exclusively, the review book and the Q and A book with Cd. I think I did nearly 4000 Q. But although you would I should be prepared I so don't feel like it. My exam is in 3 days and I am looking for some encouraging words... Anybody??

Used Saunders, but added the HESI NCLEX-RN review questions (online) and the Silvestri Alternate Items strategies book/CD. 75 questions, 1 hour 15 minutes or so. Saunders is thorough enough!

Well, here I am, sitting at home with a huge headache , feel like crying... I started my exam this morning at 8am. After 4 hours I couldn't help but pray : "please, please just shut off..i can't anymore" . I had tears in my eyes. I felt like the questions where the same..all hard..all crazy..never learned any of what they where asking.. It was so frustrating. And the computer kept giving me questions..didn't stop. I thought "well, if i get them all wrong then the computer should be shutting off soon..right?" Well, it went all the way to about 230 questions or so..after 5 hours the computer finally shut off. Although relieved to be done, I knew I must have done poorly... I started crying...went home and nursed my baby who had been waiting for that long to get this breakfast :(

I have tried the PVT but it goes all the way to the credit card page.. Although Pearson Vue's page says they are undergoing routine maintenance at 5pm until 10pm , I truly believe I have failed.

So, this is my sad story.

Good luck to all the other soon-to-be-nurses.

This is what PP has on his page:

SPECIAL NOTICE:

This website is scheduled to undergo routine maintenance on Saturday, 12 October from 5:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. CT. During this time, you may not be able to schedule, reschedule or cancel test appointments. We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Just pray!!! And since the site isn't working you still have a chance

I know of 2 people (both extremely bright) 1st hand who solely used saunders yellow book and cd-rom questions to take nclex. Both passed and they both had 265 questions! 1 of them said that all of that Saunder's studying they did for weeks meant nothing for the actual nclex.

Saunders is mostly content review. What nclex wants is critical thinking. Nclex assumes you know all of the content and builds on top of that, think way on top. The Kaplan qs from the strategies book ($30) and the ncsbn review ($50) were the most helpful to me. It is important to use various resources to expose yourself to different styles of questions

my first try on nclex i used saunders and didnt make it. i believe that i didn't practice enough on test taking strategy/critical thinking. i can say saunders really helps on content but thats it. To pass the nclex i believe that you should be at least prepared in regards of critical thinking and saunders. Goodluck on the result :) hope the PVT is wrong

I used sanders and passed. You will be fine with that. Don't go using a bunch of different resources. Stick with one.

I also used the saunders book with cd program, and that was all I needed, as I passed....The questions and reading the rationals...I probably did 4000 questions before the test...I put all my other books away......

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully, it was due to the website being down. Don't let it get you down if you didn't make it the first time. You now have an upper hand in knowing what the test is like and you will know how to study and what to concentrate on. I wish you luck the next time if that's the case! ~Prayers. Ps. I know how difficult this can be, especially if you want to pass and be a nurse more than anything.
