75 questions w/o using Kaplan...

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey guys! I just found out that I passed the NCLEX with 75 questions. Well, the way I did it I didn't use Kaplan. I used mostly Saunders 3rd ed. and I subscribed to 3 weeks NCSBN Nclex course review. I used many books also such as Exam cram NCLEX RN practices questions, Lippincott Nclex review, Saunders 3rd ed and many others. I also used the NCLEX RN 3500 software.

Finally I think that this forum has been helpful, especially the "random facts" and the "quick facts infection control" threads. Thanks to all of you who contributed to them.

I practiced as many questions as I could, always making sure that I understand the rationales behind missed questions. I started seriously practicing questions in the last semester of school. (Graduated in May 08). I estimate that I did a total of 7000 questions!!!

I guess the more questions you do, the better you'll be off. But make sure that you review the rationales of missed questions.

For all of you who are testing soon, whenever it is the first time or if you are testing more than one time, I wish you good luck.

If I did it, you can do it!

Take care and Best of luck to all of ya!

Thanks for the story and advice!

CONGRATS TO YOU! :lol2:

Hey Jack. I have a questions for u.

When you did saunders, did u complete the whole cd? Or just part of the cd? Which Content area did u focus on the most?

I'm almost half way done with saunders cd and I was thinking of buying NCSBN the 3 weeks plan.

Sorry Sweemya! I just saw your message today. I used Saunders book, but I did not spend too much time on the CD, since I was using many other study guides and NCLEX softwares. I partially used the CD and I didn't focus on any specific areas. It's up to you to know your weak areas and focus on them. Good luck in your studies, and make sure that you breathe... I mostly used Saunders book to master the content!

Best wishes!

Jack, I know that the random facts and the fact throwing threads helped me a great deal. Thank you for your support and persistence. I only used Saunders book and CD but I cut and pasted the random facts into a word document I kept on my desktop for review. I also kept my little spiral-bound RN Notes handy for reviewing lab values and basic assessments in cardiac, neuro, etc.

Good luck to all test takers and new nurses.

Only 75 for me too: a couple of calculations, a few Select all that Apply and many "You are the nurse." With all the prioritizing I was doing, I started to feel I was the nurse and I knew was ready to defend who I wanted to see first or what I wanted to learn first, based only on the information given.

It was amazing, considering I started by guessing at themedical diagnosis by combining all the choices. Thank goodness I stopped trying to do what I didn't need to do!

Evem with that, I still f elt unsure when I walked out. I've been wanting to spend/waste the money on the two day unofficial results. Instead I kept the BON listing open on my desktop and late Friday night my name was there with my license number. The first thing I did was change my name here to add the RN.

I knew I'd be happy but I am bursting with it.

Congratulations!!!:yeah::yeah::yeah:

Hola Nicolita!

I am starting my orientation on August 4th. Medical Intensive and Cardiac Care Unit. MICCU... Very excited! I love ICU big time. I am hoping to go to anesthesia school after 2 years of ICU experience.

Good luck with everything at your hospital.

Te cuidas y hablamos pronto.

Hi Jack what did you think about the NCSBN nusing ext. questions? Were they helpful in comparison to NCLEX 3500 and saunders? Were the questions more difficult? Which question source did you feel was best preparation?

Hey there!

I just saw your posting today! I've been busy lately. I am not sure if can say which study guide was better. I used a combination of all the products you mentioned above. NCSBN can definitely be helpful and I think that the questions are somehow decent and can help you prepare for the NCLEX. NCLEX 3500 has very good rationales and Saunders questions are very good too. I may tentatively say that Saunders questions are the best because of the quality of their rationales. But it is just my personal preference.

Good luck to you!
