I have been accepted into nursing program at Maryville Univ in St. Louis for next Fall 2010. I am really excited about it. I have been looking for a job in healthcare (i have experience in and I am also a Medical assistant and have a clerical background). Unfort. I am unable to get one interview. Do to prior depression I had a lot of short term jobs on my resume. I don't know how to overcome that. I can't put on my resume I had depression. I am great now, exercising, losing wt, etc. I don't know anyone important to network with. Does anyone have any ideas where or how i might procced. Thank you.

I would suggest checking with the major employment websites for jobs in your area. A good one to start with is http://www.indeed.com. It compiles job listings from the major sites such as careerbuilder.com and monster. Also, do not forget to check the job website of your state employment department. Good luck.

I have applied everywhere but no luck.. In this day and age, apparently employers are so pickey about who they hire, that one must absolutely have a spotless resume.

If all your short term jobs were in the same type of work you could combine them into one entry on a resume. Check out some resume books in the library for examples. I did this for people when I worked as an Employment Consultant. Good luck!

I had professionals work on my resume several times. Maybe there is too much competition for jobs. I have been applying for jobs that only req high school education. I have a BS in Health Education from Univ of IL.

What did you think of how those professionals did your resume? I have found that some people who charge to write resumes are not that good. My experience. It is very flat in my area and employers are requiring more and more. Some of the job descriptions make no sense like they want all this experience and then say you have to be a high school grad or age 18 when the job they are describing obviously needs way more than that! Maybe what I just wrote makes no sense! Bottom line - job searches today are very frustrating! Good luck to you. :nurse:

Another idea - could you just delete the short term jobs when you were dealing with depression???:idea:
