by cedarjen Feb 10, '09Here's my question: is one's place on the list determined by timing only or does gpa, coreq completion, dosage test score, etc. all factor in and place one higher? I'm at Flo Valley but I'm considering transferring to UMSL if the wait is too long.

- Feb 10, '09 by luvs2readlotsRNAs far as I had heard while a student there(Recent Forest Park Grad)it is solely based on timing. I know of several students who where on all 3 lists - Meramec, FloValley & Forest Park and took the first one that came through. Do whatever will work best for you! Good luck!cedarjen likes this.
- Feb 10, '09 by cedarjenI have read some scary things about FV's program and list on here. I think I will get on all StLCC list and StChasCC's list.
Still considering the bsn at umsl though.... I just have to get the biggest bang for my buck, as quick as possible! Don't we all... - Feb 13, '09 by STL2008, RNQuote from cedarjenIts timing for sure. But u have to have the dosage calc. and chemistry done before you can get on the list!!!Here's my question: is one's place on the list determined by timing only or does gpa, coreq completion, dosage test score, etc. all factor in and place one higher? - Feb 13, '09 by cedarjenRight-I'll take chem this summer and take the dosage test. I can't take the dosage prep class they offer. Any tips for preparing myself for taking that?

- Feb 15, '09 by WDWpixieRNQuote from cedarjenI'm curious why you can't take it? Just a timing issue or ?!?!Right-I'll take chem this summer and take the dosage test. I can't take the dosage prep class they offer. Any tips for preparing myself for taking that?
As for as any prep, I would suggest using the text "Calculate with Confidence" as last I knew that was what they used for the class. The test consists of very basic dosage math however, and you should use this as a guide as to the material you need to know to pass: http://www.stlcc.edu/Document_Librar...ticeDosage.pdf
This practice test is pretty indicative of the types of questions you will be asked. If you can whiz through this, then don't sweat it. If you're struggling, I would highly suggest going through the relevant text material and/or getting some tutoring to learn the material if you absolutely aren't able to take the class.
By the way, students DO pass FV's program. Are they giving the diplomas away? No. But if you want in and want to get started in the field, then apply to all campuses. I chose not to apply to FV way back when due to distance considerations. All three programs have excellent reputations in the hospitals however. - Feb 15, '09 by STL2008, RNCALCAULATE WITH CONFIDENCE IS GOOD TOO AS wdwPIXIErn Mentioned before me.
- Feb 16, '09 by cedarjenI haven't taken the dosage test because I want time to prepare. And freak out about it. Just kidding. Sort of. I will check out the calculations book, then go for it.
I wouldn't mind amother campus. If I start at 1st available I can transfer if I'm accepted closer to home, I assume?
Does anyone have any reasonable explanation for the length of these lists?! The advisor at FV seemed more disturbed by it than me. -
