Moving to MS please help (UK student)

I am currently a student nurse doing my BSN here in Scotland in the United Kingdom. I was told I need to do classes for OB, pediatrics and possibly mental health as they're specialized roles in Scotland not apart of the BSN degree anymore.

I am wondering if anyone knows if colleges/universities would let me do the classes as I am sure you must have UK nurses working there.

I am planning on moving to Columbus, MS once I graduate. I plan on getting married to my fiance who is a native Mississippian. We had planned to stay here as he was living here for 4 years but I just hope its not going to be a lot of hassle to get my license there.

I had looked at EMCC and they're fees were reasonable but I cant seem to get anywhere with advice or info, no response from my emails and it would cost far too much to call from here. I am just looking for some answers, just getting stressed as I really want to work there to be with my fiance.

    Thanks very much.

here is the deal from my contacts at emcc. it a 2yr community college that just started this yr offering a asn program. the price is around $110/credit hr. you can go online & pull up a class schedule and see exactly what you'll have to take and when they take applications for the next class. cant figure out why they wouldnt responed to your emails. btw, dont believe everything you hear about a nsg shortage in the states esp. mississippi, there are plenty of new grads who cant find acceptable jobs, so time are tough. good luck.

Hi there, thanks for replying to my thread.

I didn't know you could pull up classes and take them, what about clinical hours? I believe I may need to do those for the OB, pediatrics and even mental health (despite me doing a 4 week clinical and a 4 week of classes on mental health) I may need to do that again. I have emailed EMCC but no one has ever got back to me and that was over a week ago.

If you can't afford a phone call, immigration process is going to be hard for you. Why don't you buy a cheap phone card and call and ask.

I'll just wait until they reply to my emails, if I can do what the OP suggested then i'll do that when I graduate - that is excellent at least I know roughly what I can do. I'm due to visit my fiance in MS this year and I could always pop in and discuss my options with someone at EMCC. It's just that I was anxious that I wouldn't be able to do the above as they've specialized mental health, OB and pediatric nursing here.

Immigration is not an issue as we're saving to get married within the next 2 years, we've got everything planned out and should have savings to pay for everything but right now its a bit hectic with Christmas just by and my fiance moving back 2 weeks ago, as you can imagine

That was my first port of call, I emailed just about everyone involved in the nursing department and admissions. Hopefully I will hear back soon
