New grad getting a little worried here about finding a job. I need to get into ICU but will take anything at this point. I live near duluth and have no prior healthcare exp. Anyone else having trouble??? I am an ADN grad but am pursuing my BSN immediately. A friend of mine just got a GREAT deal in Tucson - $25/hr to start, orientation into a 42 bed ICU unit plus relocation and bonus. I am so tempted to post resume on internet but we are fixing up our house and have small child - bottom line - we can't move right now.
I guess, I'm just wondering is others in snowy, cold MN are having trouble finding a job. Also, it seems like hospitals are wanting more and more BSN's. Scary for me since I don't have mine. Anyway, what do you all think?

I also live in the Cities but I am originally from Superior, WI too.
I'm fairly familiar with the crap that is going on in the Duluth area as far as the shortage of nursing jobs.
My brother, who also graduated with his ADN, said that there were no hospital jobs in Duluth. When he had first finished school he got his permit and got on as a nurse tech (is that what they're called?) before he took his boards. Once he passed his boards, he would be hired by the hospital. Unfortunately he didn't pass his boards, his permit expired, and he was out.
I'm sorry to say this, but I think that getting an ICU job up in that area would be sheer luck. Have you thought about looking for something else?
I truly wish you luck. It's a tough situation that you're in. There are quite a few jobs in the Twin Cities area, and the pay is a bit more down here too. Come on down!
