Has anyone applied to the MSU nursing program for 2011?

I'm finishing up my application right now... I don't have to do too much since I applied last year. Have you applied yet?

I applied. What is your question? :)

Just wondering if anyone had heard anything yet or if anyone knows when we'll find out if we got in or not...

Well, the deadline isn't until December 15. I don't think they do rolling admits. So, we probably won't hear back until all the applications are in and reviewed. I'm thinking January or February? I didn't even get anything saying that they even received my application. I hope we hear back soon! Good Luck!

Hello everyone.

I applied. Confused about the decision letter that I got from the University. You had to apply to the University first in conjunction with the Second Degree application. Decision letter from the University said that they couldn't admit me to the School of Nursing (restricted degree), but that I was admissible. I'm waiting for an answer as to whether that means my application to the Second Degree has been denied or just the general transfer committee can't grant me Nursing school admission.

Anybody else get that letter?

I applied last year so I can tell you this:

No it's not rolling admission. They sent out notification letters last year about mid February.

They also wont send you anything saying they received your application.

On the application it says to pick "major preference code of 4023 for the Summer Semester 2011" As long as you did that you should be fine. The letter you got was just from the University (not the nursing program). Because only the College of Nursing can admit people to their program you'll get that letter from the university. You'll get a letter in the mail about you acceptance into the nursing program in February. I hope that makes sense. There is an informational meeting tomorrow at MSU for the accelerated nursing program if you live in the area.

Hey everyone,

I just sent my application in the other day. Decision letters will be sent out the third week of February. So...hurry up and wait! Does anyone know an acceptance rate or roughly how many people usually apply each year? Good luck to everyone!!

Just some stats for everyone for the accelerated program at MSU... They receive 180-200 applicants each year and they accept 50. It's looking like we have a 25% chance of getting in! Where did everyone do their undergrad at and what did you get your degree in?

Yeah the acceptance rate is pretty low. I don't like how your undergrad gpa seems to be the most important thing to them.

Anyway, I graduated from MSU and I have a degree in dietetics. Good luck everyone!

MSU is very, very difficult to get into. I had a very high GPA, hospital / volunteer experience, my CNA, etc. and did not get in. I would highly recommend anyone applying to make sure to apply to other schools as well - MSU makes it sound like they take a holistic approach but to be very honest, I think they do look at undergrad GPA's more so than most schools. For example, does a 3.0 undergrad GPA in a science degree mean more than a 3.8 in nursing pre-reqs?? Not in my opinion. Mine(undergrad GPA) was good but apparently not good enough. Just wanted to let you all know since they won't acknowledge they received anything and you will just get a letter with admittance or denial.
