Macomb Community College Nursing 2013

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone has registered to take their HESI in the fall and are planning to apply to Macomb's nursing program for the 2013 admission cycle!?

Let me know!

@KylaS, I wouldn't worry so much...with your GPA & current score I'm sure you'll get in! But either way, good luck on your test. If you're worried about A&P, I would definitely review your old notes as I found the HESI study guide to be lacking in that subject (if you are using it).

I think we are all freaking out ? it's killing me waiting for the school to reopen to talk to a counselor. I want to know how retakes and transfer classes are factored. I feel like I won't truly know my GPA until I talk to someone. Some more input on test scores, my two friends are applying with a 3.9 GPA/92 HESI and the other is a 3.0 GPA/86 HESI.

So I went to talk with an advisor today (which was kind of pointless) but I figured I'd share the info that I got. I asked about transferring credits from the Baker. She said if it's an A it transfers as an A but she thought that if you got a lower grade it may transfer differently. Since I had an A, I didn't bother looking into that. She also said that retaking classes do not count against you. That they simply take your highest grades and HESI, and that's it. No other factors. Also from enrollment, I found out that once all of your stuff is received for your nursing application, they send you a notice of completion so you know that you are good to go.

If anyone else has anything to add or that conflicts with this please let me know! The more information, the better.

Hi! I start the program on Monday!

My biggest advice is don't worry. Do your best, and be confident in what you have done. There isn't anything else you can do now, just wait. And trust me, it can be a forever long wait if you worry the whole time.

And it's not the end of the world if you don't get in. You pick yourself up and try again.

Update: I took my HESI today for the second time. I improved from a 88 to a 90. Wish I got a little higher but HEY, I'll take it. I was really hoping to get into an August or October start date but I don't think my scores will cut it. What do you guys think? I guess there is no telling until we get our letters. 4 more months!!! GPA 3.87 and HESI 90. That would be a 93.375 all together.

I start the program tomorrow, it feels like yesterday I was sitting where you guys are...it was a LONG wait, but now that it's here, I feel like it went fast lol and just be prepared, you will wait for EVERYTHING (your ranking letter, your acceptance letter, your ranking in the program, your start dates, your physical forms, and your classes).

My ranking GPA was a 3.56 and I got a 91 on the HESI, I ranked 99 which I was shocked about I was sure my score wasn't good enough.

Granted it all depends how many people actually apply to the program but it seems like you're not competing against 700-1000 others like in years past.

You all have great scores, don't be nervous! Good luck to you all. ?
