ITT Tech?

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Have any of you looked into their ADN program? It is new in Michigan this year; however, Indiana just had their first graduates, or are getting close to graduation.

I took the HESI at ITT Tech in July. I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear something. If all goes well, I plan to start in September. :yeah:

One drawback is the cost. Another is that nothing you take here will transfer. That's something to condider if you are young and may eventually go on to obtain your BSN. Me? I'm in my 40's now. No chance of getting my BSN.

Please post if you know anything about this school, or if you were one of the many who took the HESI here. No waiting list. Score high enough on the HESI and you're in. The caveat is that they are only taking 30 students to start. I plan to be one from the initial class. We should hear something this week.

Hi everyone- just wondering if someone could answer my questions.

Since I don't want to spend 2-3 years on a wait list, I'm thinking about attending Itt.

I want to become a travel nurse- if I go to Itt Tech will I ever be able to do that? Does it have something to do with Itt Tech's accredidation? Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi, I'm new on this site and I'd love to know more about ITT tech also. They'll take my many credits and lots of loan money but I just want to get done with nursing after getting dumped from a community college 2 weeks to my scheduled graduation :), - from start to finished, very last comprehensive finals which I bumped and left with a 73% average (needed a 75%). I cried but I'm ok to bounce back and get done!

able2012

i would do a lot of back checking on ITT, i would want to know who they are accredited by and i would contact your state board of nursing to see if they accept this accredidation. i wonder why all the posts on this site have dried up. dont hear anyone posting that they graduated and now have a job. no nclex passing rates or anything.

just saying i know a lot of people including myself who fell for the ITT pitch (not in nursing)and now have useless degrees cause no one will take their credits.

also as for a previous post...........interviewers are very much interested in what school you graduated from.

I took the HESI a few days ago, did well and hope to be accepted into the program for the June 18th start in Orland Park. Is there anybody else who did or is hoping to do the same? I've seen a lot of concerns about the program and I understand it all, but the facts are;

-You will be able to sit for your boards

-ITT Tech's credits only transfer a few places, but they do transfer to the following Kaplan (they also have a RN-MSN program), Chamberlain there is a 3rd but it's not coming to me right now.

-It is very expensive, look into scholarships there are plenty to apply for

-There aren't any graduates/working nurses (at least in my area) because the first class hasn't completed their program yet.

to all concerned

you should look into the other ITT pages, there are people who completed all of their classess and are being told they cant graduate until they pass the exit hesi, which apparently they arent able too.

im sure you can sit for your boards,(NCLEX) but if you believe that means you will get hired it doesnt, look at all the hospital web sites under their jobs for nurses, 1st requirement, that you graduated from an accredited nursing school. then it says you hold a valid license without resrtictions.

check for yourself, ITT does not have accredidation, they will tell you they do, they told me that in 1998 for my program and they still do not have accredidation. not for nursing or computer design.

im not bashing any individual, i know times are hard, i know that some cant wait to get into a program. all im asking is dont be like me, dont waste a large amount of money on a worthless degree. make them prove everything, make them show you stats, if no one has graduated from your school tell them to show you the stats from other ITT's, i bet they wont. Ind has had a nursing program since 07 or 08, how many of that class passed the nclex

i know those that get accepted to a nursing program are really excited to get accepted, i was too 2 years ago, but nursing school is a lot of work, sweat, tears, ask yourself if after 2 years and 3 months of working your butt off, your told by a hospital that they wont hire you because ITT still is not accredited, or ITT wont give you a degree cause you cant pass an exit hesi test.

it took me 4 years to graduate from my community college, with pre-reqs and nursing classess and im already being told that i have to get a BSN becuase of magnet status.

all im saying to everyone is make ITT prove that when you graduate, they will be accredited, and you can get a job.

if you dont believe me then go on the other ITT pages here at all nurses and talk to others that are going to ITT in IND, OK, OR

dont be like me Im out 25,000 on a useless degree

Hello everyone...my eyes are almost bleeding from reading all of these posts! lol but anyways...I live in California and I am planning on MAYBE attending the ITT Tech in Rancho Cordova...I haven't heard anything on this post about that one...so....if anyone has any input on THAT LOCATION please post it would be very helpful..thanks and good luck to everyone going and not going to itt tech!

Why is it so important to reiceve a BSN in nursing if one is already hired and happy with an adn? Please explain

Hospitals are moving toward wanting their employees to have BSNs. Many have been paying for current employees to go back to school to get their BSNs. It would be a shame to think you just have a few crests to take, only to find out you have 50 credits to take.

Also, you may be happily employed today. Doesn't mean you'll be happily employed 5 years from now. You may want to move into a higher position at your job that requires a BSN or higher.

Some people (especially those with years of experience) will never get their BSN and be fine. You never know.

I've heard nightmares about the ITT tech RN program, like the peds clinicals being at daycare centers. DAYCARE CENTERS!!!! Furthermore, they are not accredited and probably never will be, they just keep getting denied and then reapplying so that is looks like they are legit. BEWARE!!!!!

I always wonder why people keep saying you cannot graduate from a school that has state approval. I know many nurses who went to nursing school in other countries and come here, take the same exam everyone else is taking. They work in many hospitals, especially in the one I work at. If a nursing degree from other countries is good enough, then I don't see what the problem is. Go to nursing school, pass your NCLEX and that's what matters.

It's because if you have ever looked at many nursing job postings in Michigan at every metro-Detroit hospital at least it says in the area about required qualifications: graduate of an accreditted nursing program. Plain and simple, why would anyone pay that amount of money (much more then I'm paying for my BSN at a great university) to go to an unaccreditted school and pay that for an associates degree. There is also the consideration that many hospitals are preferring a BSN now and many ASN's and ASN students that I know plan to go for their BSN soon or eventually but after you are in severe debt from ITT you cannot get into any university program because they all want you to have graduated from-drum roll-an accreditted nursing school. It's not rocket science.

I believe if you go to ITT you don't even have an associates degree when you finish. I know someone that just went to Dorsey for one of their medical programs and graduate. They are now going to a community college but have to start out taking basic biology.
