HFCC Pharm/Med. Term class

Hi everyone,

Just a couple quick questions.

Taking Pharm. online Winter '08, first online class ever for me, just wondering how this is going for some. Do you feel you're absorbing as much info as you might in a classroom?

Medical Terminology: Is this class taken within the nursing program? I'll probably have a free semester so I'm debating if I should take the med. term class along with micro.

Thank you!

I think it's a safe choice; I took mine in the classroom and the instructor just used powerpoints and I was bored to death. If you stay motivated you'll do fine.

I don't know what you program you are in but in nursing they give you a med term packet and you have to know so many before each test. So in my opinion, it would be a waste of time and money. ;)

One of my classmates in pathgenic micro is also taking medical terminology right now (on campus at MCC) and it seems like the med term class is a lot of work. I am starting nursing classes at MCC in January and a friend told me not to bother taking the med term class first. I'd think it would help, but I guess if they teach you what you need to know in the actual nursing program, why waste time and money on the course?

I'm currently taking Pharm online and so far so good. The professor uses powerpoint presentations that you download along with other handouts and lecture notes. To be honest, I'm not sure how much of it I've retained, but I'll know once I enter the program in January.

So, to those who took Pharm 120 online this past semester, what did you think?

I'm taking it this Winter, was wondering when I should expect to hear from the instructor? Been checking my student email/UCompass accounts periodically.

First time taking a class online....trying to stay on top of things. :-D

I thought the online class was just ok. It wasn't a hard class - I got an A - but it's tedious. You will need to keep up with the discussion board questions every week along with homework. Participation for the discussion board questions will make up a good chunk of your grade. The quizzes are not too difficult, however the midterm and final were no walk in the park even though they were open book. One thing I did like was you knew what grade you were getting at all times and the intructor was helpful.

You should be fine taking this course as long as you stay on top of your assignments.

Good Luck;)

Just-An-Illusion, sorry for my full folder. It is now empty, if you'd like to PM me again.
