ERI review at HFCC

U.S.A. Michigan

Is anyone going to the ERI review session @ HFCC? Just wondering what you thought of it...

I went yesterday but left at lunch and didn't go back today. It was optional for me.

Ha she was one of our instructors...she talks very fast all the time.

Good grief! I thought it was because she had a lot of information to cover, lol. I bet her lips and jaws are exhausted at the end of the day!

hmmmm...... (initials of instructor removed by moderator) perhaps??? :)

Specializes in Med/Surg.

She's God. She talks so fast because she knows so much. I hope you wrote down every word.

If she disagreed with the answers, it's because the answers were dumb.

I could listen to her all day.

I got the impression that her student's really liked her but say that "she's God" (I'm sure it's a figure of speech), shows that she is one of your favorites and I was not trying to offend anyone. She may indeed be very intelligent but if you do not agree with answer, it would be nice to provide a rationale. No one really questioned her (a few ppl did) and I get the sense that many of her students hold her in such high regard that they don't question her. I always ask why (even to the most lettered instructors).

Fast talkers in general are a pet peeve of mine. It's not because I can't keep up with but they seem frazzled to me.

She was not horrible and nothing personal against her but she hit on some of my pet peeves that I have about teachers.

She talks fast and thinks fast....very fast. And sometimes she is all over the place. If your not used to her, I can understand how you can be a little put off. But, she knows her stuff - especially what's on the NCLEX. If she tells you something is going to be on boards...believe her. She tells you only what you need to know and eliminates the fluff.

You've certainly made some good points. I'm surprised she didn't offer rationale with the questions students asked. She holds supplemental classes for med-surg courses, which is the crux of the NCLEX, and which is why nursing students feel such a bond with her. She really gives a damn about them.

I applaud you for making it through that grueling review, no matter who the instructor was. It's such a boring, long week. I hope you enjoyed HFCC, and found the campus easy to navigate and the people friendly. Many apologies for the parking lot....they're working on it, honestly. Finally, and most of all, congratulations on finishing nursing school!! It's such a huge accomplishment. You should be very proud of yourself. So many, many people would love to be in your shoes right now, but you're the one wearing 'em!

Should I go or not? I plan on taking Kaplan. I the class is next Tues, Wed, Thurs. BUT my RN orientation is Next Mon-Fri... I really don't want to go to this review, but I would like all of the material to study on my own. I don't want to go if its a waste. I love DD she does her own nclex review now for like $120 I go to that, and I am going to Kaplan and I'll be studying on my own.
