Thought this would give us all a nice visual once folks place their vote.

Currently, I am in Ortho-Neuro Med Surg.

Also, I have placed a similar poll in our Male Nursing Student Forum. That poll can be viewed here:

https://allnurses.com/forums/f213/poll-male-nursing-school-my-goal-desire-work-area-155146.html

Good comparison threads when viewed together.

Specializes in ED, OR.

I used to work in the pre-op unit and really liked it but I needed more so now I am in the Emergency Dept and really love it.

Specializes in Emergency.

I'm suprised that there are 8 at this point who state they are in OB/materity. This begs the question what their practice is ie do they do everything OB related ie what every other OB nurse does or is their practice limited?

Update here from previous posting. I'm now just started in ER and love it !

I will never go back to m/s again. Too many man made problems in m/s and many times they make a big deal out of nothing !

The system won't let me vote again. I wonder if I can unvote and revote cause my area has changed?

currently neuroscience intermediate care...meanng neuro, plus some trauma/ortho and dumpover from the surgical intermediate care unit...plus people who start going downhill on the neuro/ortho floor or some other floor, but they're either not ready for ICU or one of the other intermediate care units have no room in their inns.

Specializes in MED SURG PACU ER TRAUMA ICU (ALL) BURN.

What about Trauma Nursing?

Currently or last posting was Trauma ER and Trauma ICU

Specializes in Psych.

Just finished ADN program. Was an LPN, just took my final today and will graduate on Saturday, May 12. I will return to work at the state Psychiatric facility as soon as I get my temp license.

JAN 07 BSN Grad

Currently 34 bed Critical Care Step Down Unit.

Future plans may involve one or more of the following...

1) Critical Care - More focused on pts and families, not tasks.

2) Hospice - We make a big deal about the grandiose event of life, why not support those on their final moments as well, in addition to their families

3) Home Health - Able to address the needs of pts one at a time without call lights... Beautiful thought isn't it...

4) Education - Let's face it, fun - and I can't do bedside till I'm 65

5) MBA/MHA - Not sure why, but healthcare will get shaken up in the next 5-20 years that management may be very interesting...:trout:

I am headed to psych and looking forward to it....must be the water, LOL!!

Wow...I created this thread some time ago...a time when I was on board as staff. A lot has happened since then, much that lead to my absence from the board. I have since relocated to another city and will begin a new position...in Neuro nursing....so, my new field of interest will lie in Medical Nursing for now. I also hope to grace the board more and more as time permits.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

Always good to hear from you Wolfie!
