This post is kinda old but the original nurses were all men this trend began with recorded time until the late 1600's when all the men jumped ship and called themselves doctors which as current trends continue the male staff is continuing to jump ship.... a talk to all the male staff at UK most are currently enrolled in a do or md program.

I'm in the UK, no one talked to me. I am not enrolled in a do or md programme, neither are any of the male nurses I know. UK does not have an md programme and I have no idea what a do is.

I am in the UK, DO does not exist. Osteopathy is classed among the alternative therapies which is why I didn't recognise it.
