Hi, I've been an Occupational Health Nurse for the past two years, and due to the economic slump need a new job. I'm heading back to med/surg on a path to ED--imagine that! It's time to change steel toed boots for rubber clogs.... So what's the consensus on the top choices and hopefully the top places to buy shoes for a typical med/surg job nowadays? My old ProKlogs have lost a lot of the color layer and I'd like to be, uh...fashionable and comfortable... Thanks guys... E

Well I have tried the real expensive danskin's, they weren't all that comfy for me. Then I went to croc's, and didnt care for em. Now I have something called Nothinz and they are great.

Thanks rfmages. However I can't find men's sizes in white--anyone know where to get them. I'm not sure white is de rigeur as it was three or four years ago around here, but it's always "safe." A question: Nuthinz come in ventilated with lots of openings, or solid--any chance that an institution might restrict the holy ones--as an infection control thing?

Hummm, well I definitely prefer the solid ones, for just the reason you said. But there are some in my facility that wear the vented ones. They love em as much as I love my solids. I know I have seen white ones out there try a google on them, I prefer the black ones though they don't seem to carry the dirt with em. Or maybe it jsut hides them. I have a local retailer that will order them for me. The best I can suggest is find a small shoe store that sells them, as these places are usually willing to help you more and give you quality service.

I have bad knees (football) and while fugly, Crocs seem to do the trick for me in the E.R.

they may be very, very ugly, but my crocs solved any back/foot/knee pain my reeboks had been giving me. i also know i can spray them down at the end of the day with clorox and feel like they'll be clean for tomorrow.

Try Shoebuy.com Aetrex X826 is the best I've found.

I just finished trying five shoes from Standing Comfort, (one was not bad) and three from Zappo's but these are the most comfortable. I 225 lbs and I need a well made shoe.
