About MissMeeks

MissMeeks specializes in N/A.

I hold a BS in Healthcare Administration and have decided to obtain a RN by way of an ADN. I have chosen to become a nurse for several reasons: I enjoy helping others, I thrive in fast paced, ever changing environments, I enjoy non-traditional work schedules, I desire a profession that will always be in demand and well compensated and in order to meet my ultimate goals, I need the hands on training that being an RN provides. I am somewhat nervous to take on this endeavor because I am going further into debt and already have a degree, but I feel the return on this investment will be realized. I am not as nervous about getting through school (although I am prepared for a rough road) as I am about finding a job once I graduate. I feel like I will eventually work as a travel nurse, RN Case Manager, Med-Surg RN or Psychiatric RN.

  6. BS in non-nursing and soon to be RN via ADN

I have done more research and this is definitely something that is offered in a LOT of places via a variety of methods! In fact, we would be better off to do one of the many ADN to MSN programs. Looks like it is only 2 semesters difference and good o...
  7. Calhoun community college spring 2015

They won't let me get it any sooner than Friday because I guess you have to wait like 5 days between the two tests. So I can get injected Friday and read Sunday and then by Monday I will be all good. I'm sure that they won't let me register though...
  8. Cultural Diversity and Tattoos

Wow I wonder if the obese nurse issue has been addressed elsewhere?! I'm sure it has. I too contemplate patient ideas about overweight nurses/aids/physicians. As a person who has always been obese, I used to worry about being a RN because it is a ...
  9. Cultural Diversity and Tattoos

I must respectfully disagree! When I get a person with a tattoo or a cool hair color etc. it makes me INSTANTLY relax (and I don't have any myself...I'm like the most basic of all basic white girls lol). I feel like I can be honest with them and t...
  10. Excited about starting nursing school this spring

Hi I start a full time ADN program in January. I was super excited and gung ho but now I'm a ball of nerves. I am like a lot of you-34 and this is a career change for me. I've worked in healthcare for a long time in administrative roles, so health...
  11. HUGS?!

I love this post. I too wondered about the appropriateness of healing touch. I very much believe that touch is super therapeutic and can do more than medication for some people. I also have the red flags etched in my mind because I worked in admin...
  12. Urged to withdraw.....

I just want to encourage you and wish you good luck. I am about to begin school and I know that moment is going to come for me when I just don't want to go on. I read your story because I wanted to remind myself what would happen if I had a bad day...
  13. BSN or Nurse Practitioner?

I was treated by a NP in the ER several months ago. An RN took care of most everything, and then the NP was the one who did what a MD typically does in the ER. She misdiagnosed me but nonetheless, she was the primary practitioner so I would think ...

Those ^%$&*(*&^^%% they figured us out lol! Now I am having a slight panic attack because I can't have my last TB skin test until Friday so I'm sure they won't let me register and I just got a job and gave them my availability. That's what...
  15. Just out of curiosity does your hospital offer tuition reimbursement? A friend of mine is in a similar situation (as a Medical Assistant, not a RN) and her company is paying for everyone to be educated/licensed.
